Tech / ideas that are old but as good as current quo

Re: I think the current gravel and adventure bikes are in some ways very similar to 90s rigid MTBs, but with bigger 650b or 700c wheels and some with drop bars. I wonder whether they came about because modern MTBs are so off-road focused, such that people drive them to a trail centre, or to a...

Re: Well, you can get something pretty good for a few hundred pounds up to tens of thousands. I have an HRT Music Streamer II+: https://www.soundstagexperience.com/ind ... treamer-ii, this was quite highly regarded in it's time, but it's quite old now and I imagine comfortably bettered by...

Re: I don't suppose it was actually built by BMW. There have been a number of car brands that have released bicycles over the years, I don't think a single one of them has actually built the bike themselves; just re-badged something else. http://www.mtbtreks.com/which-car-compa ... ar-brands/...

Re: I tried some op-amp "rolling" in a headphone amp a while back. I really like the LM4562; very clean and neutral sounding to my ears. The LME49720 is the same item and there is a LME49710 if you need a single channel version. Some say the TO-99, metal can, versions sound better...

Re: What were the surfaces of the cups and/or cones like, nice and smooth, or pitted? Also, with cup and cone style bearings, whether its wheel bearings, headset or bottom bracket bearings, you need to adjust them so that they are "just so", not too tight, which will make them not spin freely...

    Deciding if a bike fits?

Re: Are you sure it's not just "different"? Looking at modern MTBs, the geometry is very different to those from 20 or 30 years ago. With bigger 27.5 or 29" wheels, really long travel forks and fat 2.8" tyres the front end is much higher and looking at a modern MTB with a similar nominal frame...

FREE - KMC 10 speed chain quick links - GONE.

I have two KMC 10 speed quick links that were sent to me in error; I ordered 11 speed links. I don't have anything with a 10 speed chain and I'm unlikely to, so PM me your address and I'll pop them in the post. First come, first served.

Re: Though surprisingly few chainsets that except a chainring smaller than 34t; I know I've been looking. There are some, but they're quite pricey: https://www.dolan-bikes.com/sugino-ox2- ... black.html. Apparently, you can use an 11 speed 11-40 tooth cassette, something like a Shimano SLX or...

    cheap shoes for sale

Re: Judging by the way people park their cars, all over the pavements, on double yellow lines, in cycle lanes, crowded around the entrance in the supermarket car park, etc., I'd say that most people try very hard not to walk any more than 30 feet. Expensive shoes would be a waste.

    Wippermann connex chains

Re: I agree to some extent. As I explained to a friend that was commuting by bicycle in all weathers; even used engine oil would be better than using nothing, which is pretty much what he was doing, with consequently very short drive train life. The weather and where you ride also has a big...
