    Who welded these frames?

We might be looking at this all wrong lads.. The listing doesn’t mention cycling it says ‘Olympic mountain bike frame team” Maybe welding was an Olympic event back in 94 and we came last..

Turn the frown upside down! Retro goldmine!

If the value drops? I amongst many others here have been bumping wanted threads till our fingers bleed, to the point where price becomes irrelevant yet still no dice .. go back 10yrs and the forum tells me retro-goodies were changing hands on the daily..

Turn the frown upside down! Retro goldmine!

A retro-paradox at play?.. it's a buyers market yet increasingly difficult to acquire the parts one needs..?? 😁

    Who welded these frames?

Strange isn't it.. i don't know a great deal about Ti welding so correct me if i'm wrong but what the heck is this line? It looks like an old weld to me, all the file marks seem to emanate from there, like a previous weld has been filed away.. also the weld around the seat stay looks...

Why are thumb shifters so prized in the retrobike community?

It’s a ageing community, most of us afflicted by arthritis and/or gout, our thumbs being the only fully functioning digit.

    Repurposing Vintage Bicycle Parts

They were a bunch of old / odd / damaged rims they found in the stockroom, they would struggle to sell them so repurposed them. A little rub around the edges with 80grit sandpaper to remove the burrs should suffice.. but that aside for the moment.. Jesus flipping christ @27motorhead !.. this...

Is there a non destructive way to remove 3 piece crank without a puller?

Same principle as pulling teeth.. 1) Tie some rope to the crank arm 2) Tie it off to the tow bracket on your car 3) Get a friend to hold the bike frame firmly in both hands 4) Rev the bollocks off your car, lift the clutch and hey presto.. the crank will pop straight off without the need for...

    Chain ring assistance

Check if there is play in the sprockets of your cassette, are any of those gears loose / can they be rotated slightly (clock/anticlock) ? If yes, this probably isn't going to be that cheap'a fix.

    Chain ring assistance

It sounds like your chainrings are knackered but what you're describing here^ can be caused by any number of things.. could just as likely be your cassette, you could replace your chainrings cheaply but that might be just the first step edit- damn, marky beat me to it!

Odd One. Anyone into ‘Carpentry’ or Metal Detectors?

I you can always use a drift punch.. something like this Instead of trying to remove the nails, just twonk them through and remove the lat.. best to get it going with a regular nail punch.. use something decent though so you don’t bend it.. mine are Starret, they’re 20+ yrs old and still work...

Odd One. Anyone into ‘Carpentry’ or Metal Detectors?

I wouldn't fk about locating nails in pallets @Iwasgoodonce, the £££s you're saving on material isn't worth the time wasted sharpening your planer blades. If you want the free timber, just run them through the bandsaw making 4x cuts Use the lats between the cuts to make stuff and the rest is...
