Sports bottle nostalgia. What's your favourite bidon of all time?

When I was younger, I used one of these until it cracked apart. I loved that bidon. Later I remember having a pair of lime.green Le Croco bottles that I loved.

What's your favourite road tyre of all time?

Some years ago I had a few pairs of Onza Preda 28c tires. They were nice and wore well and pretty light from what I remember. Decent grip on wet roads.

What's your favourite road tyre of all time?

Veloflex Master 25 with a latex tube. Just feels great. I also like Challenge Strada Bianca 30mm. Feels super floaty on crap surfaces. I used to really like Michelin Pro Race 3 25mm, but they wore out so fast that it was always a short affair. Absolute worst tires I ever had were Soviet...

What are your least favourite brands in the world of cycling?

Brompton. Those bikes would be quaint if they were $500ish...but they're not. The fold is great, but the ride is like a shopping cart having a nervous breakdown. Tune. Absolutely terrible customer service. Spez/Roval.  Try getting parts if your territory's distributor can't be arsed.

Is there such thing as canti to u brake adapters?

While we're on this sorry topic, what are my options to replace the a$$ sucking Exage Ubrake on the back of my Cannondale? XT? Anything else?

Is there such thing as canti to u brake adapters?

I just put together a quick drawing based on the dimensions from the links in the post above that one. Cantilever bosses are usually located in that range of 75-85mm c/c. If one were to build a custom adapter plate, the centres could be machined exactly as specified, otherwise it may be...

Is there such thing as canti to u brake adapters?

No. Using the bead seat diameters gives you (700c) 622mm - (26") 559mm = 63mm/2 = 31.5mm radial difference in the boss location. You would need ±58mm.

Is there such thing as canti to u brake adapters?

Mavic had an adapter to mount road calipers. I don't remember if it was meant for 26" or 700c. Did they do a u brake adapter?

Is there such thing as canti to u brake adapters?

Now I remember why I didn't do it. Look at the attached drawing. Remember that I wanted to go from U Brake to canti...it would have meant that the canti bosses hung out in the wind, unsupported; too much resonance and chatter. If you are going from canti to Ubrake, it might work if you could...

Is there such thing as canti to u brake adapters?

About a brazillion years ago I wanted to do the same thing in reverse. Get the U brake off the back of my Cannondale in favour of cantis. I think I drew up a sort of conversion plate 🤔 but never got around to making it. I'll dig around and see if I still have the mastercam drawing. You would...

Folders! Foldable bicycles, minivelos and demontables

Here are some details below. The titanium stem doesn't have a provision to tension the headset. It just cinches onto the steerer tube, so... I have machined an aluminum insert with a threaded portion that I bonded into the carbon steerer with JB Weld. The insert is 100mm long and extends...

Folders! Foldable bicycles, minivelos and demontables

Damn this tread! Now I have the urge to rebuild my first folder. I want to revert back to 305 sized wheels, so that's the first thing to build. Tool shown for scale. It's like knitting a wedding ring 🥴

    8 SPEED CAMPAG ERGOSHIFTERS

Check the spacer locations. As @hamster stated, the cog spacing is not consistent across a Campagnolo cassette. If the spacers are out of order it will not shift accurately.

Folders! Foldable bicycles, minivelos and demontables

Maybe this is more demontable than folding. Raysport with S&S couplers. I covered it in old Indonesian stamps then clear coated it. It was a great ride..sadly sold.

One of the crazier (cost-wise) folding bike wheelsets I've built; Gokiso hubset on Kinlin 451 for a customer's Tern.
