Sell the scott brakes as well... they are not suntour but scotts, right? Probably worth some cash. Buy xt 730 or suntour xc pro stuff and you will still keep a lot of change for a nice seatpost, saddle and stem.
Unless you ride rocky trails i would drop the rock ring real fast. Sell those magura levers on ebay and make enough money to rebuild the wheels maybe the entire bike.
Syncros took the shape of the cattle prod and made that cap. Not only it breaks but makes you cut the steerer instead of letting some out for future change. The cattle head stem has other problems. The way it tightens on the steerer is not as good as the common two allen bolt fit which...
A 97 frame is built w/ a 70mm susp fork. A rigid fork should have an A-C of 430mm at least. Head angle is steepened by 1 degr. every 20mm so that tange would bring the 71 head angle to 73... Not to mention BB height and seat tube angle.
Late 80s Ritchey geometry. Rigid fork working together w/ frame design.. something that got lost when susp forks came along. Never tried one and i would love to.
