    KHS Montana Pro (dented/fixable?)

That kind of dent in a steel frame is no problem stability wise, imho. I'd try and massage it out using a hardwood block with a hole in it the exact size of the tube, then sawn in half. The dent has made elevated "waves" on its side. If you slowly work them back down, the dent should "move"...

No longer an ‘88 Klein pinnacle build

Klein serials are hexadecimal. Just say'n. M950 would be an absolute no for me. Would look rather strange on that old a frame. Original is boring. Most of the time. XT or M900 would be looking best imho. And I really like ano. So that's what I voted. :D

Bit of fun - How long as a percentage of your life have you owned your bike?

I own my Hercules Titanal since 1994, today I'm close to 46. That's roughly 61%, wow. I had it 2 years longer than the relationship with my wife. It's funny to think, that I am on earth longer with the bike than without.

    Manitou 3 Seal

This is a wiper seal. Maybe you could have someone 3d-print it for you?

1991 Klein Pinnacle (finished on page 25)

That sanded through look! I love it. Black/white fork, fresh set of stickers, clearcoat, done. You'd have to decide on black or silver for the boltons. XT obviously. If I were you, I would seriously try leaving it like that. Bolt the parts on. Make some pictues (for shits and...

    Scott catalogues...

Thanks @MT62 for that link. I reuploaded it to here and attached it to my post above. :D

    Scott catalogues...

Thanks for the heads up. 89 was too big of a file for the server to accept. I didn't even notice while bulk uploading back then. Shrinked and added the file here. About the '91, they are different languages, English and German.

Old and new - a few things about suspension …

So that's why my Manitou comp performs better when using wood blocks instead of elastomeres? :D No, seriously. Very good explanation. It doesn't explain why a fork with "too much" travel messes up the ride in a frame that was made for less. Because I think that you can in fact make a bike...

    The anti Klein brigade.

I thought Kleinophobia was the fear from sunlight touching the precious fuorecent paint?

    The anti Klein brigade.

I like my Kleins. Thank you very much. And also, I can't not post this pic here:

    Tell me what I have?

That's a bargain. 👍 The bar stem combo alone is worth more than that... Those are really nice bikes. Take good care of it.

    Tell me what I have?

P=Pinnacle. 73d= Hex number 3901 I'd guess it's a '91 model, if the SN is stamped on the dropout. (92 or later, if its on the BB, but the number would be longer, if that was the case) Pre 90 would have the "two in one"-cable stop in the front. Judging by the long steerer tube, this should be...

    Rock Shox Judy 1996 Rebuild

Oh wow. This is looking good so far! There should only be a cartridge in one of the stanchions.

    Rock Shox Judy 1996 Rebuild

Slide them apart and you will know. Most of those died of lack of maintenance. They do need a regular service. Especially the lower bushings tend to dry up and scrape if you don't take them apart and regrease once a season. Most of those I have seen were not serviced at all. Hence my skepticism...

    Rock Shox Judy 1996 Rebuild

Those forks will be toast, 85% sure. Loosen the lower two allen bolts. Make sure, they are still screwed in a few turns then use a rubber hammer (or similar) to pound them in. That will loosen the insides of the fork, that would otherwise prevent you from sliding the stanchions out of the...

Tribute to my very first Mountainbike, a Wheeler 313

The wheeler got to see the world a little more. It got a fresh set of tires and went to a classic bike meet near Lübeck. Unofficial neon contest. I took 3 more bikes with me to show them. The Specialized fsr, the rat Klein and the Scott Unitrack dh. We also visited the biggest bike...

Found that annoying little creak today

Judging by the clean crack surfaces this did not form slowly. There was no time for debris or oil to settle.

Rat Klein pinnacle build - Selfmade parts content!

As I'm getting ready for a little mtb meet in Lübeck I want to attend, I have to get the bike ready. Last time I was fiddling with the bike, I found a crack in the seat tube an I had to look into that problem. Turns out the seat post I had used was a little bit to small in diameter. And while...

    Ricker's '91 Epic Ultimate

They are called slightly differently though. Epic vs. Epic Ultimate. (And then there is the "bike spyder" rebranded ones...)

A grovel bike.....fastest build thread in the west!

I've been thinking since yesterday. Of a polite way to describe what I'm thinking about all this.. Nothing came to mind. I agree on that part: 10/10 for not giving a damn ✌️ Edit: As I'm not a native speaker, is that "grovel" in the title an intensional misspel? I wasn't familiar with...
