    Proflex 752 hack build

Today I found this in the mail. :D That should take care of the rear boing, I hope. The only problem is the color. And I'll have to decide on an appropriate length. And on the number of segments. 3 seems about right. Then I'll need to make some separation disks. Didn't I have the top and...

Here is two more versions. blackish post with silver ring Black on black So far, I think I like this post a little bit more than the silver one.

Kind of difficult decision on the flavor of the crank. At first I thought it would be easy win for the black one. But seeing it now, I'm not sure. Seems kinda heavy. Maybe try a black seatpost, too? Or a silver chainring to make it seem less bulky? Silver is looking good, I guess. But it's...

Blasphemie! He said it again! ... are there any women here today...? ... ok. To make it absolutely clear, noone is to throw any stones until I blow this whisle. Even if someone says... No. I won't fall for this trap. Ok. I shall continue. I have a feeling this should be some kind of...

Front brake basically sorted. Yea, I need a new set of koolstops at some point in the future. Just pretend to not see that crack, ok? Next would be the drivetrain. Rear: DX - the special Version with save to the touch teeth rollers. That'll be especially fun to clean. Would make...

Did a little more work on the brake thingy. It's basically finished. Still needs filing so it looks less rough. But mechnically I think this will work.

    1989 Overbury's Pioneer 700c

Frame size shouldn't matter too much, if you want to do a 28" conversion. Because difference in outer diameter is minimal, if you compare a 28"rim + 1,2"tire to a 26" rim + 2.1"tyre. Also the rear triangle length usually doesn't change with the frame size, or does it? I built this "thing"...

    ‘92 Cannondale Delta V 1000 / The Race Bike

That Risse shock sure is interesting! I've never seen a CD with one of these! Is it maybe even custom made? I'd absolutely leave that one.

    Puch Aspid = Bianchi Theridon?

Why are you surprised? It was and is a common thing to rebrand frames. No biggie. I mean, just look at the Weissach bike spyder. Very pricy bike bitd. Specialized frame. Or the Sakae Litage, which was sold as a bianchi NTH and under several other brands. Or the Alfton Taiwan made made Aluminium...

    Proflex 752 hack build

Yea, I thought about that. But that wouldn't work I think. At least not with all types of cantilever brakes. Because I suspect the right side cable would come awfully close to the tyre. I mean, the power hanger is basically the same thing but shorter and with 1:1 pull ratio. My hanger has a tad...

See? That's the interesting part. The Scott has its rear swing arm turn around the bottom bracket. Literally. It makes for a funny (and quite brittle) bearing. But it also ensures that the chain tension doesn't influence the suspension. The distance between the rear axle and the bottom bracket...

    Noleen prototype DH forks

About the name "Noleen" - Didn't the GT RTS's come with Noleen shocks originally? That would have been pre 95. Where is the connection between Girvin/Proflex and Noleen?

I don't mind a little hassle here and there. In this case, it's about the looks. And about cleaning the basement. Which isn't always easy anyhow... 😇 About my expectations from the suspension: My other currently somewhat unfinished project is this: What do you think? Is it better or worse? :D...

    Proflex 752 hack build

1 1/4" problem solved. "Quickly" peeled some bushings on the lathe for a 1 1/8" headset to fit. Normally, I'd use my trusty old oak hammer (as seen laying on the workbench in the last post) to (sensibly) knock in the headset coups. And usually I'd get a lot of flames for that over at the...

Next try: AMP. It's thin appearance and black legs might go well with the rear, I thought. And I have yet to ride one of those, too. They work great but do flex alot, I hear. But let's mock them up first. See how they look. Oh! I like. I really do. Let's find a headset then. Found a decent...

    Proflex 752 hack build

Time to decide on a fork. The frame was sold around `92/`93, I think? And they were sold with a rigid fork+flexstem iirc. Or a Mag20something. I don't have a flexstem (yet) and I have too many bikes with a Mag so that's a no to those two options. My first try: RST Mozo pro. It's red. It's...

    Proflex 752 hack build

Hey there! As it seems, I didn't have enough open project lurking around in the corners of my basement. So it's time to start another one. n+1 at its best. I got that Proflex 752 karma'd to me a little over a year ago. Now I found it while trying to do some cleanup. I don't like cleaning up...

    KHS Montana Pro (dented/fixable?)

Good work so far! Solid overengineering on the wooden part. I approve. 👍 I'd give it a few more passes to be honest. Maybe even sand down the wood blocks inner faces so you can squish the tube a tad more. Because if you try to bend metal into a specific shape, it springs back a little. You have...
