Welcome, having rim brakes is virtually classed as retro nowadays! Glad you are enjoying the bike as it should be. By the way, Trek numbering four digits are aluminium frames, three digits steel frames.

Yup, the black Paint on the forks and stem of the 91/92 models seem very porous and rust prone.
