    SBDU SB6560 1984 531c Services des Courses

I've had this frame for about 18 months now but don't know if I've ever shown it here. I bought it knowing that it had some damage, the gear lever bosses had been hacked off... and at some point, someone had done a bad job of fitting transfers. However, there is always hope with steel! As it...

1981 SBDU Dynaflite TT Reynolds 753 Aero Tubing

I got around to spending the afternoon renewing the frame transfers and putting this Dynaflite back to how it would have been. Still undecided on what to build it with :-(

    FALCON - PMS 753

If it is Metric tubed 753 then 26.8 is an option, as the heavier 0.7/0.4 gauge metric tube would use that size. The lighter 0.7/0.3 metric 753 used 27.0 If it is Imperial tubed 753 then 26.8 would mean a very thick seat tube. Imperial 753 would typically be 27.2 for a 0.7/0.5 gauge seat tube or...

    FALCON - PMS 753

    I wouldn't have expected a late 80s 753 frame to use a 26.8mm seat pin

    Tyres for 1980's Raleigh Sirocco

I can't see 700x23 being an issue for either fit or clearance. If you are after something with a tan/amberwall then I've used Veloflex Master 23s - a nice tyre.

Yep that is the one, but it wasn't part of the groupset

SBDU (Denton Cycles) 753R 1984 with 50th Anniversary Group

Campag already had a freewheel from the early 80s, don't know if it slotted into a particualr group, it was just a Campagnolo freewheel from what I remember, but I think most stuck with Maillard, Regina etc - Mine has a Maillard Compact fitted

These groups didn't come with a freewheel

SBDU (Denton Cycles) 753R 1984 with 50th Anniversary Group

There is lots of dirt on the group but the parts that should show wear don't actually show any wear. I think this is a bike that has had lots of grime and dirt stick to the oil and grease on the parts during years of storage. It doesn't look like any wear on the rear derailleur wheels, doesn't...

SBDU (Denton Cycles) 753R 1984 with 50th Anniversary Group

I usually value 80s and 90s period bikes by the frame, as 80s and 90s Shimano/Campag parts are east to get, it is the frame that typically holds the value for me. This bike is different as these parts aren't that easy to get, the frame and parts both have value You are looking at a limited set...

Re: Re: Yes, I've seen it, and it is just down the road from me too. They keep changing the item description text and now have 2 adverts running for the same bike?

    Reynolds 753

Reynolds 753 can make an excellent touring/randonneur frame. It is not necessarily a race orientated tube. Reynolds 753 came in many different tube gauges - it is not always the thin walled type - lots of later 753 is almost the same tube gauge as Reynolds 531, so it is not always too thin and...

    Replacement Chain for '85 Raleigh

Some freewheels like yours will have sprockets that may come off and turn around, providing a fresh (un-worn) surface for the chain to pull against. The end sprocket will probably have a built in spacer but can be unscrewed with a chain whip (it could be very tight). The 2nd,3rd & 4th sprocket...

Help identifying a 1970s Raleigh frame please

I think the lack of transfers, lack of head badge, the fade colour scheme and the features such as the front derailleur fitting mean you need to consider this to be a repaint. The frame number of '9' was repeated and could mean 79 or 89 but the rear ends, seat stay design and brake fittings...

SB632 1976 SBDU 753 Team Track Pursuit Frame

I don't know, I can't fit this frame into anything on her timeline yet. But you are thinking the same as me for the crown. The only crown I can see it is similiar to is the crown on the Roy Schuiten/Bert Oosterbosch track frame(s). This fork has narrow oval blades but the road 753 frames started...

SB632 1976 SBDU 753 Team Track Pursuit Frame

Yep, almost certainly you wouldn't want to just have a track frame doing very little when you could do something simple and add a gear hanger to give a frame another use. I just wish this one hadn't been done so badly, your track end is much neater! If mine had looked like that I might have left...
