    Reynolds 753?

753R for example is 0.7/0.5 single butted - the 0.5 is at the seat pin end with 0.7 at the BB end. That is on Imperial 753R. 531Pro will be the same. 531c is 0.8/0.5 (the same 0.5 at the seat pin end). So 0.7 at the seat pin end is either very thick or incorrect?

    Reynolds 753?

Which part of the tube are you measuring as 0.7mm? A 753 seat tube is single butted with 0.7 at the BB end.

    Reynolds 531c/sl/? frame weight.

If you said it was a 70s frame then it won't be 531c or 531P as they came out in 1982. I'm not aware that 531P included any 753 tubes (that was 653 which was a mixed strength tubeset). The SBDU for example sold a lot of 531P chromed frames in 84/85 and the SBDU would never chrome 753. What are...

    Cinelli Bars Help

I think daccordimark said it, old Cinelli is 26.4 but they did do a variant which was 26.0, but this was clearly stamped on the bar. The newer re-released Cinelli are 26.0. However, Record stems are prone to slipping, Cinelli 1A every time!

SB8790 SBDU Nottingham 531c 24" Lo Pro Road "As New"

Re: Re: I've no idea why it doesn't seem to have ever been ridden but from what I know, the owner was a very good competitive cyclist, not at the same kind of level but riding with names such as Neil Stephens and Shane/Gary Sutton in the mid 80s. Maybe he just had too many bikes, I was told he...

SB8790 SBDU Nottingham 531c 24" Lo Pro Road "As New"

Thank you, it really is sparkly new! I will build it but getting parts of a similar clean and unused quality isn't going to happen overnight or be cheap. It has the Campagnolo transfer on the chainstay and has the stack height of a Corsa Record headset so that may be the way to go with the...

SB8790 SBDU Nottingham 531c 24" Lo Pro Road "As New"

I was offered what was described as a 'Mint' frame, built up but never ridden. The frame was built by SBDU Nottingham in 1987 and shipped directly to its new owner in Australia - the frame comes with the original Raleigh box, TI compliments slip and shipping 'telegram' with info on flight...

A really nice but tired looking SBDU

Yep, here is a link... https://raleigh-sb4059.com/2018/05/11/s ... sitioning/ They started well down the down tube but at a point at the start of 1984 the SBDU raised them right up by about 40mm, the tips of the levers were skimming the head tube, but then by 1985, they relented just a bit and...

A really nice but tired looking SBDU

Re: Re: I know what you mean about the gloss black - this is the original gloss black on SB6398, I only gave the frame a quick polish and the front derailleur is nicely reflected in the shine

A really nice but tired looking SBDU

Yep, they moved them over time - it's the kind of thing I measure (I've just done a blog post on gear lever position)! This cable stop is about 4.5cm from the end of the stay, earlier frames had them at about 6.5cm

A really nice but tired looking SBDU

Probably a childhood thing too, I had a Raleigh Chico, Hustler, Olympus, Arena, several Grifters and then later had a black and white Mustang and a Banana. The local bike shop was a Raleigh dealer! I got out of bikes a little while ago and sold everything including all my tools, but when I...

A really nice but tired looking SBDU

I've added another SBDU to my collection... This is a 531 Professional frame, numbered SB7393. It has lots of nice parts and just needs a little TLC after being stored and a leaky garage for a couple of years. The first thing I liked about it was the original paint and the red/grey...

List of British manufacturers frame numbers

As roadking said, the magnitude of a task like this is off the scale. I collect SB frame data and just controlling the data on the small amount of SB frames produced is tough. The reason it is tough to control is the accuracy and consistency of the data I receive. If you compare the amount of SB...

Un-ridden 1984 SBDU with Super Record

Thank you, it really is a stunning bike, in brand new condition. I don't actually know yet what to do with it. It is spot on my size which is 57cm, but I have a few other SBs in my size that I ride already, with another currently being built. I just couldn't say no when I was offered it. Most...

Un-ridden 1984 SBDU with Super Record

This is the latest addition to my SBDU collection, a late 1984 531c frame built up during 1985/86 with Super Record (Record Pedals) and then never ridden. It has spent its life in the guest room of a home in Denmark. Apart from one tiny mark on one of the chain stay SBDU ovals and a small mark...
