    NOT a Nuovo Record BB

I think that BB might be Chorus - that had a 68-SS B marking according to the dealer manual. 1/4 balls 111mm axle and non-rifled cups. RECORD had the same axle marking but had 7/32 bearings and rifled cups

    Hilary Stone problems beware

"Hold on there chief"? Seems like the 'issue' is on the way to being sorted via a phone call which is the sensible course of action to take rather than public flaming for a seller who has, as you have said, has lots of positive feedback.

    Hilary Stone problems beware

Wow, it's amazing that a trader like Hilary with no doubt thousands of successful transactions can be hung up publicly on one side of a story :-(

    Hilary Stone problems beware

Never had an issue and I've bought quite a bit off Hilary. Always checked it was available, checked the price and shipping, checked payment method and had the stuff very quickly.

Another SBDU - A Rather Nice Little Frame

Re: Re: I've slowed down, honest... it was only 4 frames last year (or maybe 5?), and only 1 so far this year

Another SBDU - A Rather Nice Little Frame

Nope it is 100% a road frame just with foil badges. No H ref either. I think the EDCO is actually brand new and probably a replacement of the original. Part of the renovation service they offered was to face and fit a new headset at the same time if you wanted them too.

Another SBDU - A Rather Nice Little Frame

Well that is a something I talked to the original owner about when I picked it up. He didn't like the TI scheme and still finds it "garish" so it wasn't that, but then he admitted that he couldn't actually remember what colour it was originally. I can only guess that this was simply a refresh...

Another SBDU - A Rather Nice Little Frame

A couple of weeks ago, one of the authors of a book published in the late 70s, "The Penguin Book of the Bicycle", got in touch about his Raleigh SBDU 753 frame. Both authors had frames built during the time that they were researching and writing the book. The frame number of SB1995 dates to...

    Interesting Motor Paced Stayer...

Re: Re: I looked at Danny Clark, among others like Fred Rompelberg. Danny didn't seem to have any Stayer results reported until 1985. I've seen pictures of him riding on a Raleigh, in 1985 colours (Halfords-Raleigh team?). The frame he is riding has 1985 features but this Stayer is a decade...

    Interesting Motor Paced Stayer...

Nope, Schuiten's hour frame wasn't stamped with his name as far as I'm aware... I've also had Rob Schuiten in touch recently asking for info on a frame of his dads that he found earlier this year, it is Roy's frame from the GP Lugano and the Grand Prix des Nations in 1975 and that also has no...

    Interesting Motor Paced Stayer...

My suspicion with this is that this frame is built by Jan le Grand, that is certainly being confirmed by others too. Interesting hint of old red paint just inside the head tube too. Although most TI/Panasonic Team frames and SBDU frames did indeed have either an SB number or the rider's...

    Interesting Motor Paced Stayer...

Re: Re: I don't know yet... but even round section track fork blades are only 22mm and these chainstays are approx 26-27mm. The fork blades are also slightly bigger than std.

    Interesting Motor Paced Stayer...

a little BB detail... The seat tube and down tube are std BB sockets but the 26mm chainstays are fillet brazed. there are no stamps, frame numbers or initials on this frame.

Thank you, it is a good space although a little full. I had a re-jig yesterday moving some projects around!

    Interesting Motor Paced Stayer...

I received this yesterday... it is a bit of a mystery but might have a hidden story. It is claimed to be a custom built frame from 1984 but appears to be mid 70s. It is built like a tank, in fact it would probably demolish a tank. It has the biggest chainstays, they measure approx 26mm...

    eBay Raleigh SBDU6608 ? 753 PRO

I can't make out if the seller knows what they have or not - especially as they quoted the frame number so wrong. Looks like the seller is going from the Raleigh catalogue they have included as an image in the advert. It has a wrongly defined frame as a "753 Pro Super - Frame built from 753 Pro...

    Reynolds 753?

Check some measurements, check the diameters of the tubes, check the length of the top tube etc - a very short top tube for example can reduce frame weight a lot. 1985 would have been Imperial Reynolds 753R, 531P or 531c within the Reynolds range and a frame of 1270 grams using these tube sets...

    Reynolds 753?

First thing I would do is try and date the frame to see what tubing was available at that time. There are some other tubes other than Reynolds, such as Ishiwata that may be just as light or even lighter than 753.
