Manitou expert - help with M2 crown identification please?

Follow up= they were different part numbers. M2 crowns 85-33** part number M3 crowns 85-34** part numbers One part that is different but with the same part number, is the arch. The M2 had a welded on cable stop. The M3 was a one-piece machined part. However they both have the same p/n, just...

Manitou expert - help with M2 crown identification please?

Darren, looking at the pictures above, the first crown is an M3. The slots in the clamps should align with the vent holes in the stanchions. (IIRC M5 bolts). The second crown you show is strictly speaking an M4 crown, but still very much available on the marketplace at a time when M2's were in...

Freeing seized piston: Hope Mono Mini

Exactly what Novocaine said on the first page and twozaskars said above. Put it back together and use a toolmakers clamp (or two) on the non seized piston. Bleed it, then use the hydraulic pressure to push the seized piston out.

Are there dropper posts thinner than 27.2mm??

Bear in mind with a dropper you have a stanchion inside a slider. All of it needs room to telescope. I have one of the aforementioned 26.8 Gravity Droppers and that shaft is very very small in diameter, and I understand, very easy to bend. You have what you have, an interesting old machine...

Fluoro yellow here: https://bicyclist.cc/?s=yellow+outer&post_type=product For the flat yellow from Muddy Fox Pathfinders etc, you might need to look on eBay for BMX stuff. Bear in mind no gear outer will be able to be had for a match on the BMX stuff. I believe Jagwide did do some sets in...

1991 GT Team Avalanche Midnight Aurora - Restoration

It is indeed, GT branded Regal. Nice saddle. The Ribble one looks like a bargain though. Great job, as a former '91 TA owner, I'm liking what you're doing.

    Cook bros cranks/ Klein

CBR spindles are 5/8". If you have a CBR BB you'll find the bearings have a Metric OD and a custom ground imperial 5/8" bore. You're right, custom bearings and grinds are available from bearing suppliers, but they're not especially cheap. I think finding a 17mm spindle may be more economic...

What piece of cycling kit/gear is not essential but has enhanced your experience enough not to ever go back?

I am getting old so naturally my hair has gone west. Now, sweat gets in my eyes. The biggest boon for me has therefore been the Halo headband/ bandana https://www.haloheadbanduk.com/

    Onza Rip and Rail

My absolute favourite tyre pair. Very aggressive and good in all conditions. Those aggressive front side knobs though can tear off if you do a lot of edging and don't have good pressure in them. I still love them though.

Hope Ti Glide (cracked) Flange Replacement

I think Paul Brodie did a similar affair with a Nuke Proof. Find it on his you'tube channel. Cost = far in excess of the value of the hub.
