I would honestly not go anywhere near Argos for a respray, but that's just me - their finishes have a reputation for not being very durable. Myself, I'd be going for powder coating, but I appreciate that might give you a more limited choice of colours or finishes… Really interested to see where...

I don't know, I've never had to use one… I'm just aware that external bottom brackets are oft regarded as a lot more fragile than their square-taper counterparts… Something with replaceable bearings would be good, so a used Hope looks like a good option… but other opinions welcome 👍🏻

I'm looking for correctly oriented oval / non-round chainrings suitable for MTB chainsets, i.e. 110/74, 94/58/56 or 104/64 BCD, although 130/74 is a possibility. NOT interested in badly oriented rings such as Biopace / OvalTech etc, but stuff like EggRings, Doval, Osymetric or Rotor Q-Rings...

Very true... see also their contemporary SunTour, Sakae, TA and Stronglight, to name but four. And for the bottom bracket, it has to be SunTour XC Pro, surely?

I did a Trans Provence skills course with Great Rock in the south of France in 2012. Was fairly under-biked on a Barry White Inbred sporting M730 XT cranks (which were fine) and SunTour wishbone shifters (which weren't).

I have a BETD (I think) long travel kit, and several of these frames... I'm not sure I dare try it, or with what forks 🤔
