    Local Barracuda

You mean it's meant to be this fugly, and it's not an imprint of some poor fella's nuts after hitting the top tube in an accident?

    Thorn Mixte

Early Christmas present for the Mrs for somebody? https://www.gumtree.com/p/bicycles/expedition-bike-thorn-nomad-mk3-rohloff-hub-stepthrough/1487697877 If the Mrs is too tall, might be worth finding a shorter one to fit this bike.

    Local Barracuda

Saw this for sale on local Gumtree. I am guessing this frame is alloy, so the guy must have had balls of steel if he manged to bend it like this. Still, must have been very painful.

Mercian Vincitore - cheap with one day to go

Castrated (by the Mrs) is more likely than Exterminated. But then, I already have 3 kids, and I don't have a Mercian...🤔

Can anyone identify this possibility Russian bike?

Don't want to drive the thread off topic, but how are you finding it, and what's the practical appeal? I've been looking at these 20ers for a while (the incurable n+1 decease) and tried a couple folders. Cheapo folders were flexy AF and I'm a 6ft2 bugger and most framesets seem to be aimed at...

Sirius - probably Lee Cooper, 853, but about 200 miles from civilization

It's certainly way too small for me, might be just right for the Mrs. But I just started building a new bike for her. Tempting to get this one too though, if it's the right size. It's less than an hour away from me  .

Sirius - probably Lee Cooper, 853, but about 200 miles from civilization

Looks very nice, and just north of Antonine wall, so I'd say it's the northern outpost of the civilised world. But a bit of a strange set-up with 22" ST and 20" TT? 🤯 For somebody with freakishly long legs, short torso and a bad back?

Romani 'Prestige' Road Bike - late 80s

fwiw I'm about to take my Romani frameset to the painters and then build it up. Mine's a Columbus TSX tubeset (the fully rifled one) and seems to be a top class frame. It looks quite similar to vicente's. I've seen a rigid MTB made by Romani too and it looked pure class. Unfortunately, a size &...

Great news. Ebay drops seller charges!

There's a whole list of tests, but the main one is whether the goods have originally been acquired with a view of re-selling at a profit. My expectation is that everyone will get a scary letter accusing them of tax evasion. Some will just be scared into paying tax that they don't owe. The last...

Great news. Ebay drops seller charges!

Food for thought #1: from Jan 2024 the new legislation requires all online marketplaces to report you to HMRC if you sold more than £1,000 worth of goods in a tax year. I suspect that HMRC will claim that you are trading if you exceed the £1,000 allowance and demand that you pay your current...

    'Tandem', well sort off 😆

So they say. The correct number of bikes is one less than the number that leads to a divorce.

    'Tandem', well sort off 😆

I've heard that the best way to test your marriage is to buy a tandem. But it looks like the "sociable" test will give you even more accurate results. Fewer false positives.

Anyone has a seller's account in Japan?

There's a lot of daft listings, and I suspect they are part of a money laundering network. As soon as you're talking objects of art or antique collectables, you're in grey area in regard to pricing. If I was to get into money laundering, I'd open an art store first though. Happy to discuss...

I suspect this might be HVZ "Tourist", but I might be wrong.

Anyone has a seller's account in Japan?

I don't get people who pay the full price for Brooks. I can sell you a much better Lepper Tourer for just £350.

That's a damn good deal! Stuck seatpost though...Ugh.

9 speed thumbies - best option?

When modern technology catches up with the reliability and versatility of the 30-year-old stuff, I'll be the first one to make the change.
