Differences of opinion are wonderful, but a little maturity and good manners in expressing them are normally required in any forum, public or otherwise.

One thing I'd like to change perhaps, is the stem and replace with a chrome double-clamp stem.

Picked this up recently. It's not the sport model (decal was added for decoration). But still looks smashing. I don't know how far from being 'authentic' it is though. Have used plenty of Autosol and plenty of tin foil/water on chrome rims. Brings them up beautifully, never any noticeable effect on braking. Don't know whether Autosol contains any sort of wax or grease, but you could finish the braking surface off with white spirit or similar if concerned...

Apart from the immature bigot's postings in the middle of this thread, it's been a blast reading through. Every single late 80's prototype mountain bike on this thread makes me desperate to find something similar, not sure why, but the history and the wacky long wheelbase geometry really appeals...

Been loving this bike for over a year now, can't get over how great it is to look at and ride. Every time I look online at the latest adventure/cyclocross steel bikepacking bikes, I just look back at this and put my credit back in my wallet.
