i have a set of SRT300I's from an old 1995 specialized rockhopper that im rebuilding and the grips on the actual shifters have perished and ripped. i would like to keep it original and replace them but i cannot find replacement ones. can anyone help or it just worth chucking them in the bin...

Doh ! Yes of course ! The gold one goes on the left rear and right front and the silver one on the right rear and left front.

I have just cleaned up a full set of alivio cantilever brakes that were covered in 28 years worth of mud and grime and only just discovered that the springs are in two different colours. There are 2 gold and 2 silver. Does the rear use the gold ones and the front use the silver or vice versa...

just noticed your frame takes a 68mm bottom bracket. my takes a 73mm one, plus it was fitted the other way round with the drive side on the left.

im looking at this bike on the local gumtree site and wonder if its a vintage/classic bike or just one of those iron girder made cheap halfords/super market jobs.

your paint work is in much better condition than mine. im currently going to keep it with the patina look but may get it powder coated later on but not decided on colour

i have a standard 1995 Rockhopper that i got from a local guy for a bargain 15 quid. its in good condition but the front wheel bearings are toast and the drive train is on ots last legs and i dont think its been cleaned sicne it was new. currrently in being stripped down, cleaned and all new...

i have checked the headset and QR on the front wheel and both are nice and tight. i can see the legs flexing so think its that. its just something i have got used to now as i ride about 330 miles a month commuting back and forth to work.

please dont break it up for spares, it looks too good. shame your up north as i would love to buy that from you.

i got an alloy rigid fork for my 26 inch commuter off of ebay from airbikes.co.uk its designed for a 27.5 inch wheel and matches the length of the 80mm RST forks that i use to have on it. it does the job but i find that the alloy forks creak alot for some unknown reason.
