    Wanted hydraulic disc brakes

I have a pair of Avid Elixr 1s and a pair of Avid Elixr 5s that I am looking to sell, they are in very good cosmetic condition and the hoses should be long enough but they will need a bleed. I'm looking for £15 for the 1s and £25 for the 5s.

Ti for things … like pedal axles.

Manufacturing ti maybe bad for the environment, but it's longevity may help balance the environmental scales. If making an aluminium frame generates 500kg of Co2 and is replaced every 5 years, over 40 years you are responsible for 4000kg of Co2. But manufacturing a ti frame generates 3000kg of...

How to remove a stuck seat post

I've had 2 seatposts removed by the Chorley chap and he is highly recommended. As said, he is quite secretive about his methods. He did have a milling machine and pillar drills in his workshop but don't think they're used in the extraction process. One of the posts I got back and there was no...

2012 Kona Entourage build - going for a retro throwback style

I've been looking for a retro DH bike for a while but nothing special enough came up, if it did, the seller didn't reply or were too far away. Drunk me was obviously getting frustrated at the lack of progress so bought sober me a 'not very retro' Kona Entourage. I'm relatively pleased with this...

2004 Kona Coiler for my son

The boy is getting bigger so put the standard wheels, bars and stem back on. Looks a lot better now.

I put on some race face carbon bars and an FWE stem. For the weight weenie's amongst us this bike is coming in at a fairly respectable 11.9kgs (26.2lbs).

Out with the skinny, in with the chunky. Swapped the skinny nukeproof grips for chunkier Funn Holeshot. They feel a lot better in the hand.

    Curtis SuperX 2001

Went for a proper ride today at Chicksands bike park. I was a bit worried about people looking down on my bike as its not the latest tech but before I even got into the park I had a guy want to take a picture of it, and I had loads of other positive comments on it too. Fair to say retro still...

    Curtis SuperX 2001

I went for a short ride for some shakedown testing. It rides well, feels nimble and the gears all work. I can hop it up a kerb without easily so it's not too heavy. Just a couple of issues we're identified. The main one is that the forks seems to be locked solid after being left for a for a...

So it's pretty much finished, for the time being anyway. Bled the brakes, put in some hope red pads and put some headset spacers in. She's now ready to go. This was never going to be a weight weenie build but stuck it on the scales anyway. She's a bit of a tank coming in at 14.3kg...

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I have now solved the problem. I think I mentioned earlier on that the drop out was a bit tight so the hub axle wouldn't slide in. It also turned out it was slightly out of square too which moved the mech out. So a bit of tweaking with a crow bar...

Almost there, but it is fighting me all the way! I adjusted the length of the hoses and cables so they're tidy now. Bleeding the brakes will be the last job. The ISCG-05 guide mount arrived so could mount the chain guide and chain. The chain guide is a second hand MRP G2 which was a bit bent...

Very nice. I always liked the B1s from that era. There's a B1 Woodbumble that's been up for sale for over a year for not a lot of money. I'm put off as its in a sorry state and missing the rear axle and shock.

Also serviced the forks and put in a replacement cartridge as the adjustment screw was broken.
