2 degrees Celsius this morning! At least it warmed up quickly for a little spin with the Catalyst.

    1993 Brodie Catalyst

The XT headset on the Catalyst had developed a stop slightly off-center a good while ago, meaning it seemingly worked smoothly but centered itself off-center. It had been over-tightened. This week I finally came round to inspecting the headset. I found quite clear marks in the upper cup and...

    1993 Kona Hot

I got a decent looking cheap set once and it had a crack on the back of the drive side.

Could do with a bit more red, I think. Otherwise excellent.

I get what you mean. But I like riding without too many gears a whole lot.

    2020 Transition Spur

First ride proved that the Roox Roller-Coaster is not a chain tensioner. It's a chain guide. I'd need it to move more than the spring could handle. It bent as soon as there was enough tension on the chain for it to not jump over the cog. And this while the chain was not even long enough in...

    2020 Transition Spur

Couple of challenges: Lots of chain growth, chain skipping on the King cog and it seems I put too thick of a grease inside the freewheel mechanism, so that the spring behind the ratchet is held back a little. The rear pulley was also changed for a bigger one with narrow-wide tooth profile...

    2020 Transition Spur

This is version three. This time the bracket will be printed by proper company specialising in 3D printing, instead of friends with DIY printers. And maybe, if I'm lucky, the design changes improved the part enough for it to hold up fine, despite not being made from metal.

    2020 Transition Spur

Unfortunately the bosses on the frame are offset to the outside by 3mm. Which meant the hardware was touching the chainring and on top the chainline was way off. 15mm off. This called for version two: Much better, but not perfect.

    2020 Transition Spur

I am trying to adapt this RooX Roller-Coaster. Back in the day, it would have looked like this: https://www.vitalmtb.com/community/Dami,47426/setup,46085 My ISCG variant is more appropriate, but it is an ISCG03 mount and the two mounting bosses on the Spur are positioned according the the...
