    Damn you, VW, Damn you...

Option 4: pay Hellfrauds £8 to do it for you. I know they get a bad rep, but if they break it, they're good at paying up to get it fixed. A few stores even have competent fitters, although most have left in a mass exodus as the company cuts staff hours to a skeleton crew and still offers a wide...

Imlach's Sweaty Hippie Funk Collection, adventure bikes, rusty rats, cruisers and other alt bastardisations of bicyclery

Does my Kona qualify? It's single speed and needs a higher rise bar, I know this. My beach cruiser, went totally overboard upgrading a bin find to be all matchy matchy. Another Joe Murray bike, a voodoo wanga that I commute and bike pack on, with Motocross risers.

The forth bridge has never collapsed? I believe it was built after the Tay bridge disaster, so to regain confidence in big bridges, they upped the safety margin from 3 times to 7 times as strong as it needed to be.

Would the first born not be more potent?

    For Sale Dablk's Sales - New stuff Nov '24 . Maxxis 24" DHR/DHF, Hope Brakes Tech 3 E4's, MT201 Brakes

Thanks, very nice, but from your tape measure photo, it might be a bit baggy for me, even by baggy mechanic shirt standards.

Wanted Rapid rise / low normal rear derailleur and shifter

I stand corrected, we got it free in the shop. Is it the right part number?

Wanted Rapid rise / low normal rear derailleur and shifter

It is indeed a T300 in the shop. Looks straight, no play in the parallelogram, but the barrel adjuster is pretty stuck. Needs a bit of TLC to get that out and probably a replacement barrel adjuster, as I can see the old one giving way on removal.

Wanted Rapid rise / low normal rear derailleur and shifter

Did you check if it was indeed a T-300 you're after. I'll buy it on the spot if I know it's the right one.

    For Sale E*thirteen TRSr chainset

So I bought this on a whim, before realising I need another spider tool, an e*thirteen chainring, and a BSA30 BB to use it on my hardtail. It's a 170mm crank 30mm axle Aluminium crank arms, beautifully machined 30t chainring (guidering SL I believe) The r in TRS stands for 'race' 🤯 I would swap...

Wanted Rapid rise / low normal rear derailleur and shifter

Ah sorry, I had a bunch of other stuff going on today and forgot. They're next open on Wednesday so I'll try again then.

What model number is it? I'll pop back along on Saturday and check the two they had if you want?

Wanted Rapid rise / low normal rear derailleur and shifter

Thanks for that. I've found a really basic one that'll do the job in my local cycling charity shop. They also had a couple of Nexave ones if they're of any use to you? I didn't realise they existed at all levels, I thought they were Deore LX and above before now.

Wanted Rapid rise / low normal rear derailleur and shifter

My friend is watching eBay and the usual channels, I'm wondering if anyone in the community here might have one for sale. The community has pulled through on many occasions before, so I'm still hopeful.

Wanted Rapid rise / low normal rear derailleur and shifter

A friend of mine is working on an adaptive bike for his mum, and feels it would be easier for her to operate the gears in the low normal configuration. I'm hoping someone on here has a rear derailleur and shifter that they would sell us? Thanks in advance.

    Exposed cable vs Fully housed

In the defense of exposed cables, I have noticed that there is less friction in the cable, so shifter feel is lighter than a full length outer.

New headset standards and existing tools?

The few tapered headsets I've worked on have all had split crown races, so no difficulty seating them or removing them.

    Understanding modern 29er boost forks?

I can't remember if it was your post or someone else's that I've recently waxed lyrical about them already, but I definitely recommend the Marzocchi Z2 which is basically a (slightly) more budget friendly fox 34 (34mm stanchions).
