Sold Whole heap of hydro, brakes for spares/repair now last reduction before binning!!

I don't suppose the XT brake is still there and could be split from the rest? Is it a front or rear?

98+ BoTM 98+ Bike of The Month March 2024 - now taking entries

Is that first photo at Lee Quarry? I have a similar photo of my old Voodoo Canzo I took there.

    Wanted VooDoo Headbadge

I'll look into postage when I get a minute, but I don't see a problem with sending it across the pond.

    Wanted VooDoo Headbadge

I have dug out the badge I have. Just to confirm it's the more modern style as per my picture. They must have changed some time after 2008, as my Voodoo Wanga has the old style. I don't have a fresh sticky pad, but I'll leave the old pad on it to help you choose a thickness of double sided tape.

    Smartphone mount, what type?

I use a topeak waterproof ziplock bag style case. You can get handlebar or stem top cap mounts for them. The case is generic, so works with any phone, and you don't have to rely on a 3M sticky pad to hold the quadlock onto the back of your phone or your phone case.

State of the industry: a running thread

I agree with this, and it may be unpopular. But why do we need to support 'bricks and mortar' shops? Not just bike shops, but any of them? Why is the onus on the consumer to pay more for the same part (for example)? I don't earn enough to overpay for something out of charity, to keep a local...

    Wanted 165mm boost cranks

Hi everyone. I'm after a set of nice 165mm cranks. Has anyone experimented and changed their mind, or gone even shorter? I'd like to help you offload your 165mm ones. Ideally 24mm axle type to use with hollow tech BB, and I'm running a mostly XT groupset, but will consider any nice cranks...

    Just discovered 'I-Spec' 🙁

To be fair there wasn't much butchering involved, more guesswork, as the hope tech brakes I'm using were obsolete before Shimano 11 SPD i-spec b was a thing. I decided to try an HBSP263 with the shifter, and you take off the top part of the i-spec shifter and it fits the HBSP263 with just a...

    Just discovered 'I-Spec' 🙁

Perhaps controversially, I've butchered a hope adaptor to pair with an 11spd i-spec B XT shifter, as the length of the 2010ish Hope Tech levers put them right in the way of where I would locate a shifter band. If I put the shifter inside of the hope lever position, it's miles away from where I...

Gravel bike packing, its all done wrong IMO

I don't think anyone on here is saying that modern bike-packing rigs are going to make traditional panniers redundant. As I mentioned before, I have a set of 4 Ortlieb bags that I use on my hybrid for maximum capacity on longer adventures. However, for shorter MTB bike-packing trips, I use a...

    Stem length / rise question

I know you're exploring other possible culprits for the discomfort now, but if you come back to handlebar position, it might be worth getting a higher rise bar if you find riser stems to look goofy. 50mm riser bars are easy enough to come by, but there are brands out there, like stooge who do...

Gravel bike packing, its all done wrong IMO

I thought he maybe had an accident related to those snazzy handlebar extensions of his? Or maybe his 'genius' has teleported him onto a higher plane of existence than us mere mortals 😂

Carbon full sus drop-bar gravel bike experiment?

I'd gladly take you up on the Ribble ones, if they're going actually!

Carbon full sus drop-bar gravel bike experiment?

Which flared bars were they? I've been struggling to find the right ones for my retro-mod road bike. I tried Genetic Droves(IIRC) but they weren't as flared as I wanted, so then I tried the On One Midge bar, which had enough flare, but the bars didn't curl fully parallel to the ground, which I'm...

Bar extension mount thingy to give an extra piece of 22.2mm handlebar?

How bad can the cheap ones be really? They're holding accessories like a Garmin, or a light etc, not a rider's weight. Ok, a poploc might see a bit more force exerted, but I would think it'd be fine.

On balance, I still am not a fan of e-bikes (previously known as ‘I just don’t get E bikes’)

I don't necessarily favour the current limit, that's just what the law is currently in the UK. I do agree with the spirit that an ebike should still be, at its core, a bicycle first. This allows it to integrate on cycle paths, and with mainstream bikes. Personally, I would like to see the...

On balance, I still am not a fan of e-bikes (previously known as ‘I just don’t get E bikes’)

There seems to be some confusion around the definition of an ebike. An ebike (or pedelec) is a an electric motor assisted bicycle, with pedals, that supplements your input until you reach a speed of 15.5mph. Legally, these bikes should not have a throttle and will not go without pedalling...

On balance, I still am not a fan of e-bikes (previously known as ‘I just don’t get E bikes’)

If I understand your points correctly, you're calling for regulation, when what you really mean is tougher enforcement, regardless of whether we integrate electric mopeds into the existing system or not. If it doesn't have pedals or a number plate, then you don't need any motor testing equipment...
