Might just make a 1:4 scale workstand instead and pass it off as a model of a bike getting repaired. Or just put it upside down on it's saddle and handlebars.

Started adding bolts and what-nots. The bolt heads are bits of styrene tube sanded to a slight taper. I found that if you stuff a tiny allen key into the tube first it gives a lovely hex socket effect. Running out of little bits to finish, still need to do the chain... mows lawn... pairs...

Bit more heat bending. Lettering done using the same technique as the KS dropper logo, but this time using black plastic and silver paint. Waterslide Colorado flag. This goes on the back of the seat tube.

Thanks Gtpulse, I used to look at models in museums as a kid and think "is that somebody's job?". I was often more interested in the model than whatever it was trying to teach me. Glad that I have fulfilled your wish. The pedals have a working four-piece axle inside the aluminium tube, so they...

Yeah laser. Considered tagging it on to the next load of photo etched metal we were getting at work. We get our smallest scale balcony railings done this way, but the next job lined up was going to a bit thin.

I haven't got time for that, still need to do the chain... catalogues CD collection with the Dewey decimal system... still need to do the chain... *side note* I actually did once sort my CD collection by colour. A whole Ikea Billy bookcase worth. It looked superb, but made finding anything...

Anyway, got a little sidetracked.... Back to the making stuff. All of the little odds and bobs to mop up now... Tubeless valves. Brass with an aluminium core.

They say a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. Well I know nothing, so I must be really safe.

Exactly this. As soon as you put a deadline on a job, I'll take all the assistance you can throw at it. My shower curtain is hanging from a 3D printed bracket because of the sloping ceiling.

You've hit the nail squarely on the head there, I like that analogy.🔨 When it comes to making stuff for my job, I'll take all the apprentices you can give me. If I'm making stuff for fun then maybe the apprentice takes away some of the sense of ownership. Perhaps "cheating" was too strong a...

I have noticed that in the past. That's possibly another reason why it's the only social media I engage with. It's nice here.

I think "dumb-arse" and "keyboard warrior" might be a little strong. Uneducated, yes, but hopefully now educated. 🎓 I hope my previous post doesn't come across as taking the hump, it was not intended as such. To be honest, without a laser cutter I doubt it would have even occured me to make this.

I see someone on Singletrack has questioned the "cheatingness" of laser cutting vs. 3D printing. The way I look at it is this; A laser cutter cuts shapes out of a flat sheet of material. Once these pieces are cut, there is still assembly and filler/fettling to be done. Essentially all the...

Final dry assembly before getting the glue out. I need to sort out a box for it before sticking it together. Once the stem is glued in place it wont fit in the toolbox that I've been using up until now.
