Curly Hetchins. Frame only. With provenance.

I always understood the curly frames were an attempt to provide a modicum of comfort.

Yes, but badges could still be on "normal" bikes. Or is my memory wrong?

There were copies made by other manufacturers. Maybe curly stays were the biopace rings of that era. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225897272015?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=rhotLV_VTei&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=1tHP3S0nRW2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

But nowadays they are very niche bikes. Good to ride if you have plus fours and a deer stalker hat.

A nice detailed history, buf look at the price🤯🤯🤯 One bike I'd like to own but, apart from the price, I don't have the knowledge, patience, skill or spare parts to get it back on the road. Not sure I'd ride it if I had it, and have no intention of going anywhere near Eroica - ever...

Oh dear...just tried that link and get all sorts of warnings. Do not use etc. Site is unsafe. Is it just me? Could it be that they have just forgotten to do some paperwork or is there really a problem?

Wanted Extremely long shot. Peter Read's first training manual.

Yup. He came from Selby way. In those days we had to write a letter to him to get the books. Imagine a world without the internet😩 And we had to pay by cheque.

Wanted Extremely long shot. Peter Read's first training manual.

Wow. Thank you. Your clicking is better than mine. Sad to hear he has died, he was at the forefront of the training revolution. I'll try the guy you mention and see what develops. Cheers.

What highly rated products did the bike media convince you to buy, only to not live up to the review?

Not quite in the same league, but I get far more punctures using the blue tyre than is acceptable. Thought it was just me. They have all been repairable - so far - but getting a puncture in the garage is hard to explain. I put it down to heat build up but LBS (either charitably or taking the...

Wanted Extremely long shot. Peter Read's first training manual.

Thanks, but no thanks. That's much more advanced and involved than the original white book which was basic in the extreme. I lost touch with him after the red book so am not sure when the black book appeared.

    Automatic gearing for cycles!?

And the potential for the chain skipping off those front teeth must be enormous out in the real world.

    Tablets. Any geeks on here?

Nope. I've seen several "guides" on the interweb telling me how to do it but they all come with the caveat that some versions of some models do not allow it. Think I must have one of them. It is all a bit vague. Photos seems OK from the camera, but downloading to the card and/or operating apps...

Thanks. I'm just trying that right now. It doesn't say change. No option showing on the app either so I guess it stays where it is.
