I have this More Extreme with only about 10 miles use and “like new” suppleness of tread and sidewalls. It had sat in the nice cool basement at Bromley Bike until about 2 or 3 years ago.

My Jet Stream is built up with '99 M750 9 speed XT. Because, if I had owned it since '97, that is what I would have upgraded it to as soon as I could afford to. It also has Fox F80 RLC forks (because I like going round corners better than Judy XCs ever let me), Tubeless Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.25"...

The Jet Stream frame is very similar to the Lightning, but was built up to a complete bike with an M539 XT groupset rather than the XTR on the Lightning, with a Judy XC suspension fork, and (mostly) Ritchey (WCS?) finishing kit (stem, handlebars, seatpost, etc.)

I'm looking for a Left Hand (3x) Shimano trigger shifter to put on my niece's bike. Just the shifter pod and clamp, please. Anything considered. Aesthetics and groupset not important, functionality very important. W.H.Y?

Yes, you are insane. Welcome aboard. Follow the advice given above, plus: Join (at least) one of the marque specialist clubs, carry a spare fuel pump, a distributer and a set of points. Those and one of the new-fangled jump start kits will probably get you out of most roadside issues.
