I've used alloy bolts on rear brakes for years with no problems, but would not trust them on the front. Titanium would be fine on the front with the P2 fork.

I bought aluminum crank bolts years ago for my weightweenie build trying to get close to 18lbs but could never convince myself to install them.
They were not "bad" bikes, just not as special as the original Kleins. They turned into Trek frames with special paint and stickers, same for Bontrager by the end of their run.
I always enjoy these discussions as it's been a long time since the 97 cutoff point was introduced.
1997 still makes sense as a time when technology made a significant change.

Your Mt Tam is a 99 and the Saab Supercal is a 2000. I started with a 99 Ziggurat which was one below the Tam, then did a frame upgrade the following year.

I have a set of those, rode them hard for a couple years. Yes they do flex, but it's not bad with a decent set of v-brakes.
With a flexy set of v-brakes it's a different story, plan ahead for when to slow down.
