Products We Can't Believe Are Still Made

I agree with you Tomas, Shimano hubs last forever. The only issue I've ever had was wearing out a freehub which was a quick and cheap part to swap out.

    Foes

    Great bike!

If you had a CNC machine..?

5 Bolt 94mm middle chainrings. Lots of cranks still out there running strong but fewer ring options.

Is there any future at all for the 26 wheel?

It's no garage queen, I have ridden the sh*t out of this bike for years. Every part has been replaced several times, it's has been an evolving build for 20 years. 4 frames, 2 forks, 4 headsets, 4 stems, 5 seatposts, countless wheel builds, 10+ pairs of tires, etc. I broke down and bought a...

Is there any future at all for the 26 wheel?

The bearings are still fine, where the drive and non-drive cups press against each other must have worn and the BB will always have play. I'm sure with some Loctite I might be able to make it hold, but the BB tool interface got stripped on one side years ago so I don't want it in too tight.

The real world cost of retro builds....!

The price on the NOS Judy XC is crazy to me. I'm sure they are rare, but is there any real desire to have the lowest of the 3 models?

Is there any future at all for the 26 wheel?

My favorite and most used bike for the past 10 years is a 26" wheel v-brake Chinese carbon hardtail. Over time I slowly got it down to 18.3lbs, it's scary to ride when you're not used to it. Fork is a noodle, brakes barely work, gearing is limited. But man oh man it is fun, and I can keep up...

Is there any future at all for the 26 wheel?

Re: Re: But are high end parts still available? Does anyone still make a 26" suspension fork, with 1 1/8 steerer and QR dropouts? That's where I worry about parts supply long term and have started hoarding when possible like many of us here. There will always be cheap 26" parts to buy, just...

    YETI C-26 TEAM HOMAGE (REPLICA)

Awesome work and dedication so far. Thank you for all the work that went into this thread as well, I have enjoyed reading it and look forward to more.

    Sachs inverted front mech

Re: It's been a long time, but don't they work with any shifter? It's just a reverse action like Shimano's annoying rear derailleurs.

Why does everyone dislike the GT-LTS5 1997?

It does not have a proper rear shock to lower the price.

Chris King classic or Shimano XTR hubs?

After 5 years of abuse I rebuilt a rear King just to see what was inside. So well made, and that goes for their hub tools too.

Chris King classic or Shimano XTR hubs?

I have a couple sets of King hubs and never had a single problem with them, the engagement is much better, and lighter as well. However I have never heard of any reliability issues with XTR hubs.
