Forks for my team Marin 95

Well, some 10+ years on, I've still got it👍 Some parts and forks have been swapped since. I use it for work (on road with knobbly tyres) and the bike can also attack cross country too. It's a lightweight Machine that makes almost any terrain easy to navigate. But then, it has mid 90's geometry...

Forks for my team Marin 95

I have coped with 17.5mm @ 6'2". Not nowadays though. Im strictly 19" + Considering the mid 40's tight back. You can find marins in (certain of a baby 13")...definitely 15.5, 17.5, 19 and 20.5. For steel frames 1990---> 1996/7 that i can verify.

Forks for my team Marin 95

On a previous setup. I put these very silver forks..... On this very....err champagne silver team. Fit well with a low stack ritchey headset. The colour thing didn't bother me. 13 miles through Yorkshire mud and it all looks the same. .

Forks for my team Marin 95

Sure, marin published sizes from centre to centre from 1990-1995 steel frames. Aluminium half an inch differently. Indeed, you have a 17.5" marin. For riding, there isnt much in that size and 19". You still have a face down race geometry. Things got different by 1996 but still, a low rise stem...

Forks for my team Marin 95

What size is the frame? 15.5 17.5 19" Stick with a threaded set up to reduce the need for a long steerer. Thats 134, 153 and 183mm respectively as per above frame sizes. Of course there is wiggle room for that with spacers/hacksaw. That tech waffle done.....the 730g thing was a certain...

Race/team bikes vs. off the shelf

You have got a lot of reading to do. If you mean >97, evidence suggests that teams used stock, or 'shelf' kit, but then customised it to suit the riders. Sure, there may have been some tinkering with strength, component choice etc...but nothing you can't civvy-replicate or homologation. If i...

    1992 Marin "the bastard" Muirwoods

Take it down to nothing, it's worth while as the bottom bracket LP26, will be well in and in much need of replacing. If you swap out the chainset for LX550 etc, you will save 1kg and, have a more responsive bike. Just a sympathetic tidy else wise. The bolinas ridge is below it. Still a capable...

    Talon Chainrings

I dont have definite info but, they are typically pre-internet/url. I still use them myself ben. The middle on the marin shifts well and done 100's miles. Just need some (x5) copper shums to jig it either way, as they are typically thicker alloy.

Sloping top tube query for sizing

Yep, the 1992+ team issue and team marin had a longer top tube regardless of 'frame size' even the 15.5". I would, go no less than a 19" for any 92-97 marin. As they have a racey head -down geometry. And, have a front suspension fork issue (very picky). Manitou 2, 3,4 look good, work...

Stuck BB removal options - *Update* It’s Out!

If the splines are consequently destroyed, you can drill it out with good HSS drill bits. 8mm or so. Just keep working round the sealed bearing. It will all disintegrate. Then, carefully chop the cups out.

Bit bored of my bikes ending up very similar

Well, it appears you have a certain ideal or, benchmark for any build. Where, you take a well put together machine and mildly modify it with bolt-ons from that day....better forks, cranks and some shiny stuff. Maybe try keeping a bike as, is. Its takes ages to get a 90+ % original bike, makes...

1993 Marin Indian Fire Tail - Childhood Dream Bike

Yes, its common for a 31.6 to actually fit. 93 rocky, the same. 95 same..... So long as it isnt forcibly rammed in..itll be fine.
