Seconded here with DX. Workmanlike, correct age and looks great. Plenty of it is out there and you already have a starting point with the Thumb shifters. The shimano low profile cantilever brakes are a bit marmite, so it is good that you have the 987 brakes and dia compe levers planned...

The Cranks are indeed special, CQP titanium if I am correct? I still can't get my head around the rest of the spec though, Deore LX STI units seem a bit out of place as does the Suntour front mech. Still a totally awesome looking machine though :)

Indeed, that Yates looks ace! All that aside, I could forgive the seller a little if they hadn't pictured the bike with the fatal large ring/cassette sprocket chain combo. That poor rear mech :(

Hmm, I think you might be right about the cam. Personally I like the 987 cantis with SS7 (or Ritchey Logic) levers. The SS5 seem a little too lightweight for me, I prefer the extra meat on the levers. Definitely looking great so far. Tuning in for more :)

Sadly it doesn't. Awful cheap v brakes and grip shift max shifters. I would also want to have a closer look at the wheelset to see it that is still OEM. The fuselage does look in good shape though!

Looking nice! Having owned a Quatrefoil in the same finish I can vouch for how cool Midnight Aurora is in the flesh :) There are these saddles going really cheap if you need something similar in the meantime, not a million miles away from the GT riveted ones...
