    Campagnolo Athena...awful?

Very useful advice, that. I found out the hard way. Have just installed a couple of Athena 8-speed levers, BTW. Because I love how the classic looks of those early Ergo levers work both functionally and visually with a vintage bike:

    Calling all 80’s Raleigh experts!

The Corsa was third from the top in the line-up, below the Team Replica and the Competition and above the Sirocco. I have an '84. A nice bike and the 105 Golden Arrow group is really attractive, IMO. The serial number will tell you exactly where and when it was made. The decoder ring is here.

Death of the 5 arm 130 bcd triple?

I am not familiar with @peetee 's setup, so I can't answer that particular question, I'm afraid. Campagnolo doesn't use indexing for the front, but rather a ratcheting system. So the left Ergo levers work with pretty much any front changer. Which is why I like them, besides the good looks of...

I always feel a bit sorry for Grant Petersen. He works hard trying to sell European bicycle concepts to American cyclists, but they're not having it, it seems. Grant Petersen: Threat or Menace? I just want to say: Grant Petersen

    Fun retro ride in France

Not that particular route, but have done some of the shorter ones. Anjou Vélo Vintage is a wonderful event. Heartily recommended!

You had me doubting my sanity for a while there. Thanks for that. ;) But no, it is a Record Ace. I did a quick online search and found others. They are in Germany, France and Holland, so it may have been a continent-only version. This one was sold on Catawiki recently:

Thanks. The bridge is the Ponte Vechio, aka the Ponte degli Alpini, we crossed when arriving in Bassano:

No, I found the picture of the shop online. I did, however, pass the town of Povolaro a couple of years ago when cycling from Vicenza to Bassano del Grappa with mrs non-fixie. Beautiful area.

Interesting. I have a rather battered '81 Record Ace hanging in the rafters, and it is a totally different bike. No eyelets, no room for mudguards.

Nice! One of the Povolaro Rossi's recently turned up in Indiana, of all places. I remember looking up the shop: Rossi swap meet find, questions

That would be Chris. There for good luck and to hide a bad spot in the paint. 😕

The frame originally came with the infamous Shimano "B" type bosses. I modified those with a file and a tap so they'd take standard shifters. Or cable stops, such as the Shimano examples that are on there now:

Didn't see 'retro-modded velo sportif look-a-like' in the title, but I thought I'd give this a whirl here anyway. :) Just finished. Pics from yesterday's and today's shakedown rides. Japanese frame with a mix of parts from England, Germany, Italy, Holland, China, Japan and - yes - even France:

Thanks, guys! Falcon is the brand which occurred to me as well. Haven't been able to find any confirmation, though. Halfords was very active (and successful) in Holland during the seventies, eighties and nineties. Both in aftermarket automotive supplies and bicycles. I kinda miss them...

Fantastic indeed. You should have no trouble selling them, should you want to. I love wool jerseys. Sadly, the original ones don't fit my well-fed 6'1'' frame. 😐 Luckily new ones are available in grown-up sizes. I even had one made with my name on it, by one of the sellers at L'Eroica:
