The Rockhopper looks to be an 89 model. I believe the smallest frame size in 89 had the u brake whereas for the 88 model they all had them regardless of size.

Yes. The Magura's that came with my RC100 also have the machined clamps.

I had a Pinnacle with an R serial number so I think we can assume it's a Pinnacle also from looking at the drop outs they are wrong for a TG or Rascal. A Klein expert will be able to tell you from the serial number what year but I would guess 89 onwards as like you say no U brake.

Merlins did not go to a 1" 1/8 headset until around 95/96, I forget which, so 1" would be correct. I only know that as when I bought mine new it was the first year they had moved away from 1".

I've had a set of those forks. As stated above definately not RS and the closest I ever found was one of those far eastern ads in the back of MB Action.

If it is the one I saw yestersay then it's a 1989 model. People on FB were getting all excited about it being too cheap but actually it's a bit of a state with non original and mismatched parts etc.
