FYI I contacted the chap who gave me the frame and he sent these pics over! Key components include, titec stem, wtb grease guard hubs, XTR groupset, Stratos Helix rear suspension (which you pointed out), etc 😊
I guess I better put it back in the shed rather than leaving it in the pile of reject/broken wheels and frames down the side of the conservatory now 🙈 🤣 To think I nearly gave it away last week 😬 (these are pics from the link you sent 😉 but I do actually own this catalog so I’ll have a proper...
Massive thanks for helping me to think outside the box Sam! I’m pretty sure of what it is now! I reckon it’s a 1998 V10 based mainly on the parts it came with and also the look of the frame. I’ll send over some pics, please could you let me know if you agree?
Yep definitely a 92 Cape Wrath 🥳
God knows why the decals are missing but the paint is amazing 🤩
Had seen @Peachy! say it’s way better in person but wow it’s almost like a baby blue and teal twotone effect. In fact I thought the light blue was sun fading initially! The DX parts look like...
Oh Gawd! This is so frustrating for everyone involved! 😣 I guess I’ll go and make sure I’ve got two factor authentication set up on everything 🙄 Thanks for letting me know!
If it can’t be recovered I’ll have to set up another thread and ask everyone in the Retro DB Facebook Group to post a bike...
Good morning folks!
I’m hoping an Admin can help as the “Show us your Diamond Backs!!!” thread I set up no longer seems to exist and the previously used link below produces the error message attached. (Am I just being dumb? 🙈 )
There were some great bikes on the thread so fingers crossed we can...
There are pics of the higher end model 1990 catalog pages on the Retro Diamond Back MTB Facebook group 😉

This DB X-Link is probably a bit new to be classed as retro really as I think it’s from 2000, but does anyone know anything about these bikes?
For example:
- Is it a 2000 bike?
- Which parts would it have come with?
- Is it worth trying to restore it?
This one came with a full (and I mean full)...
Would you agree that it doesn’t really matter at this stage tho? as if the frames were the same construction and grade of steel, then surely back in 91/2 they just decided which paint and decals to apply and serial numbers to stamp depending on the demand. So it’s kinda cool that I can do the...
My thoughts at this point are that there’s probably no way of 100% confirming that it’s a Richter and not a gloss black 92 Karakoram as to my knowledge they had exactly the same (see attached catalog spec). However, it has to be one of those two and Richter is more likely imo as the paint now...
