    '69 Claud Butler Corridore Project

Re: Claud Butler Frame ID Embarassingly, I must admit that I only saw and read 1st page of the thread before posting!!! I do think the Corridore is most likely. Hopefully helps. Doug

    '69 Claud Butler Corridore Project

Re: Claud Butler Frame ID Erskine and Peachy, Prugnat 62a lugs must be what you have on your frame. (Although I really cannot tell difference between 62a and 62s.) Appears only '69/70 Claud Butlers made with 62a lugs were Olympic Road and Corridore. As Chris points out crown is wrong for the...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: dttlincs, If there are actually head badge holes, maybe filled, the holes would have penetrated fully. If you look inside head tube with good light, there should be some hint of holes or perhaps filler protruding. Good idea to start with cleaning up frame! You never know a hint of a decal...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

I had been wondering about a more detailed pic of fork crown and then it appears! Although hard to know how relevant fork is to ID of bike as a different number than frame albeit similar suggesting same builder. I agree looks like a Fischer track fork crown (Swiss) that was used by Italian...

    Holdsworth - help confirming age

i agree Serial 9645 dates it to c. 1948 according to Dave scrimshaw's prediction table. Fits. It has stay cap eyes exactly as used on a Cyclone #9865 on Dave's list and similar to my 1951 Sirocco. 9865 also just makes it into late 1948 but with fancier lugs normally associated with Cyclone...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: I agree looks like a 1974 shop build again, similar to Wolber’s Italia. I would not call this a Strada as they were pure road machines with very tight clearances for sprints only and would not accommodate fenders or have fender eyes. Strada bottom triangle measured 16.5 inches whereas...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Wolber, Your frame #7331 does resemble a factory Super Mistral, but not quite. http://s1324.photobucket.com/user/bruce ... Holdsworth 7331 does not have the Super Mistral style bushing hidden in rear brake bridge hole but rather a tube projecting externally. The Super Mistral rear brake bridge...

8 Speed Shifters With 7 Speed Cassette?

I apologize I was mistaken and do not have 7 speed Uniglide freewheels with shifters I describe above. Rather the shifters I described above are used in conjunction with a 7 speed 11-34T Shimano Megarange freewheel with Hyperglide cogs in case of Shimano 8 speed brifters (RD is lower end...

8 Speed Shifters With 7 Speed Cassette?

I use indexed Shimano Ultegra 8 speed bar end shifters and Shimano 8 speed brifters each with Uniglide 7 speed freewheels. Work perfect. I have no experience with shifters you mention but I would assume would work fine.

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Wolber, I believe frame 7331 is a 1973 WF Holdsworth, Putney Shop Italia model. Italias were often built by outside contract builders and often for shop stock. ( http://retroride.blogspot.com/2007/05/h ... _1672.html ) Yours may very well be original paint as has usual shop seat stay cap...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Wolber; Here's quote and pics from Kilgariff "models" page: "1974: The W.F. Holdsworth LTD (shop) catalogue has the Italia and Competizione ranges, but also offers the factory (Holdsworthy Co.) Pro": Also, it is my observation that the shop was not always consistent about sticking to a...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: Wolber The number 7331 and your brief description suggests this is an early 1973 Putney WF Holdsworth shop or contracted build rather than a factory frame. Perhaps an Italia or more economical Competizone. The shop at that time had their own models and did not build models labelled as per...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: I agree with Dave. Fact that this is likely a Holdsworthy Oakfield road stickered frame built at time of 1985 transitioning to Marlboro ownership does make it a very interesting frame.

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Re: Baronsouthside, Well, 1985 VCC catalogue clearly shows your Ttiathelan. I feel it has to be a Marlboro Holdsworth. FYI Falcon did not take over Holdsworth marque until 1987. Kilgariff, "After the 1987 takeover by Falcon Cycles Ltd (an Elswick PLC Company), they offered Holdsworth...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

I think this is a 1985 Holdsworth Triathelan (not VS) with a Marlboro number. Quote from Kilgariff, "Marlboro had a presence at Oakfield Rd since pre Easter 1985, but they bought Holdsworthy cNov 1985, and production quickly transferred to Darlaston in the West Midlands." 1985 catalogue from...

    Help identifying 60's(?) Holdsworth(?) frame

I agree I'd call this a definite shop built stock late 1967 frame. As stated, in letter from Kilgariff to Dave Benson re his Italia, stock (K) frames were usually built by builders other than Collard. Also per Kilgariff site for 1967 - "...Italia tourers will also be built, generally for stock"...

    1954 Claud Butler Jubilee Special #5412 8509

Re: American help required - stars & stripes Claud Butler My opinion as well is that this Olympic Path is a 1949 frame. I would be curious to know what the letter E signifies. I wonder if it perhaps signifies that this (likely special order) frame was built by Norman Ephgrave (Les...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers Update

Joe_Ride I'd place this as a c.1952 Tornado with what I would think are modified continental Ekla lugs. Pretty much same as frame 16503 on Dave's data base, although yours has somewhat different treatment of fluted top eyes and pump pegs placed on left and towards rear of seat tube as shown in...
