    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Hi again ClaudButler61, To follow up on one of Peachy's questions or... maybe I missed your response and if so I apologize: Re Velox S #71167 - do you remember if it was a bike in stock at Putney shop or perhaps ordered from factory? Do you perhaps remember when in relation to Easter it was...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Claud Butler 61, In light of your Velox 71167 I've been PM'g with Peachy re a tweak of the prediction table. Revision should be available shortly. Wonder if you'd be OK if I included some of your pics on my Flickr account where been recording 59-76 serial data. Thanks Doug

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Claud Butler 61: "Enclosed is a photo confirming my Original Spanish Gold and black downtube" The pic of Velox downtube does not seem to have come through. Perhaps "my bad"? Great to have 71167 serial pic . Any other pics of Velox? Beautiful Coureur! Doug

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

71167 is especially interesting as the present prediction only goes to 71000 in 1976 before switch to 6D system. Numbers and timing of this transition are a bit of a moving target. Sounds like valuable evidence for an adjustment. Agree pics and any documentation would be helpful.

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Off hand, don't know for sure, however I suspect angles were the same. One could scour Kilgariff catalogues to see if discussed. Certainly Prugnat 62s lugs and I believe tubing was the same - plain gauge Reynolds. Does it take a 26.4mm seat post? Thanks for pics. As I suspected oiler is on...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Hi LMACE, I have your frame as advertised on eBay, discussed on Flickr where I've been recording serial data. Each frame is in own album in order of where they appear in serial sequence. I think this is likely a European which was same frame as Challenge but had brake cable stops on top of TT...

    Holdsworth Professional Track Frame?

Yes, Dave has that CR Pro on his Excel data. Guess one can't assume anything, but I'd agree with your theory. Good catch and a beauty! Doug

    Holdsworth Professional Track Frame?

OldTel I'd agree #69215 looks like a 1970'ish shop Pro. (Unclear but 69 numbers seem to have spanned years 69 to 73) Frame has Collard's signature heavy wrapover seat stay and what is thought to be his vertically stacked serial. Even looks like had a metal head badge at one point. I'd guess...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

I'd say 31403 does not fit for a predicted c.1967 frame and appears much earlier. Likely pre Holdsworth ownership and 1950ish as discussed in prior link. Perhaps missing something here. Are there other numbers or was number ever recorded from fork stem? Better pics of seat cluster and fork...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Rossmthomas If it was a Holdsworth model that number would date it to c.1951 and I don't believe nervex lugs were being used at that point. You are right that serial does fit for a c.1962 Holdsworthy Claud which is a few years after takeover. Think we need better pics of head tube lugs, seat...

    Claud Butler-Holdsworth frame numbers 1959-1976

Great work Chris for spear heading this and always good to get more frames/data! I will say that the prediction table that's been developed is akin to a marriage or disaster plan - it's a continual work in progress!!! As new good data surfaces, the table as presently pictured may become out of...

    Help with frame identification.

Looking at Piperdave's Cordon Bleu #3874 which dates to 1959, think it also does not have fluted stay eyes. So appears I was wrong about that feature in last post. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=108823 Are the seat stay eyes (semi) "wrap over" as with Cordon Bleu as not sure from pics? Was there...

    Help with frame identification.

I think this frame #1568 is unlikely a c.59 Claud Butler Cordon Bleu (date that this # would fall on) as for that time frame would have had fluted stay caps. As well I would think there would have been an oiler on top of BB. My Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/76762476@ ... 5948556521...

HELP: Vintage Claud Butler Frame Identification

Well.. not entirely 101% clear without a 1983 catalogue, but I'm leaning toward a 1983 Majestic. The Suntour "semi" forged dropouts (as present on your frame) are specified as standard on Majestic for 1984 but are not described as such for 1982. Coincidentally, the '83 Holdsworth models...

HELP: Vintage Claud Butler Frame Identification

Hi Kona_Jake85 I'll stick my neck out and say 046383 is a Majestic. (Scrimshaw's prediction dates to later 1982.) As discussed with PeachyPM may be a repaint or perhaps built late in '82 as an '83 model of which no catalogue has surfaced. Your Reynolds fork decals are later versions than...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Looks like a definite factory produced Holdsworth Classic. (Not a Cronometro, as advertised by eBayer, as these were only made by Putney shop during earlier years and serial doesn't fit for a shop build.) From Holdsworthy factory catalogues it seems unclear when the Classic model was first...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Anidel, re: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/273635180493 I'd place this as a c.1953 Holdsworth Whirlwind. This is first year for new "Whirlwind" lugs, replacing Sirocco style lugs. Number 17657, according to Dave Scrimshaw's present prediction guide places to c.1953. (Backed up by his data.)...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers

Frame features and if serial accurate (6 digits beginning with number eight) suggest a post 1985 Holdsworth take over model. Probably a Falcon of which dwscrimshaw has some serials collected under "All Other Holdsworths..." . However serial number focus thus far has been on pre take over. Rear...

    Holdsworth Frame Numbers Update

Stonehamman, Any chance 1203 is a Claud Butler? Fluted wrap over seat stays were seen on Cordon Bleu from '59 to '61 as well it had same Nervex Pro lugs. Holdsworthy Claud Butler serials after take over (59 to early 60's ) is a tad confusing but this number I believe would fit in '59...
