Interesting story.
I have one of these in exactly the same colour. It's in pretty good condition, all original but I hardly ride it.
In fact I was going to put it up on the sales forum, roughly what do you think I ought to be looking for it?
Cheers
Jon,
Similar experience to yourself really. Bought a Viscount model called 'Indy 500' back in '79 or '80 when I was 13 or 14 rode it almost everyday and did 1000's of miles up until I was 18 or or so. I loved that bike.
Had no money to maintain it and it eventually died.
Fast forward to...
Just thought I'd post up a picture. I went out for an hour or so today and took a few pics.
All I will say about the bike is that it has the best handling of any bike I have ridden (except another Viscount I had way back). Just a pure joy to ride!

Thanks for the link- I love these but most times when I see second hand ones they are too small.
Saw a load on a stall in Italy last month, absolute bargains and vintage 60's and 70's- but couldn't squeeze myself into them no matter what I did
I guess most people know about this resource, but I thought I'd post up the link anyway.
It's the web site and has the Koga-Miyata brochures from 1976 onwards, but text is in Dutch
http://www.koga.com/koga_uk/my-koga/pas ... es//#older
EDIT- I just reduced the price to £220 collected or £250 delivered in UK on a Parcelforce 48 hr, insured.
This is a pretty much out of the factory state Koga-Miyata. Not sure if it's '81 or '82, you can check the brochures on Koga's site here http://www.koga.com/koga_uk/my-koga/pas ...
Well, if no one else is going to take a go at this, I will.
Somewhere between £175-£265, depending on size, condition, decals, original parts, and demand at any given moment etc.
Would be easily worth that in parts.
