Advice Please - Should I refurb Hutch Pro Stem

Re: I would do the bare minimum to restore that, and be very cautious in whatever you do, and whoever you hand it over to. Go easy with the polishing, as you can easily soften / round-off those edges and chamfers. Ideally, I would re-polish it on a belt sander, so that you can hold the piece...

"Fat Tire Flyer" goes on sale

Rust remover: This might interest you guys

There's a long instruction thread on Vintage BMX about oxalic acid (perfect for those 1980s chromed frames). It leaves non-ferrous components, paint and even decals etc. untouched. And, as Highlandsflyer mentioned, you can mix it to the desired concentration. I cringe whenever I see somebody...

Cook bros cranks, year and modell???

MTBR has a long-running thread on Cook's CBR, and CQP cranks. Not sure whether the images are visible for non-members, but it's the place to ask: http://forums.mtbr.com/vintage-retro-cl ... 92813.html

    Oury Grips or Lock On's?

I use a bit of duct tape under mine. But the wire-on trick works too. If "a friend" mistakenly buys the moto-x version, the throttle-side grip has a larger inner diameter. So will always slip on MTB bars. Don't ask me how I know this

    ONE BMX ONLY

Complete: The Diamond Back Harry Leary Turbo that I saw in a shop while on holiday in Oostend. Black-chrome frame with chrome parts. DB loaded it with 3-piece cranks, Oakley grips, etc. A real flagship model. Or as a tribute build: A fully-loaded all-Hutch all-chrome Trick Star. Built by a...

    Mountain Biking Footwear.

Merrel Cordura & GoreTex hiking boots; big socks; foot straps. More recently, I have reverted to my early 80s BMX choice: Shimano DX-style platform pedals & Vans on everything.

I'd be having a bid on that if it wasn't way too small for me :( Good luck, people!

Geoff Apps' Seminar Date fixed: Sunday 28th July

Re: Geoff Apps' Seminar I'd love to attend, but I won't be in the UK. Is there any chance that this could be recorded & posted online, like the fascinating presentation that Keith Bontrager did recently?

    Rear disc adaptors

Slightly OT: That same company does "track end" adapters that bolt into the existing dropouts. Not sure how that single bolt is going to stop them rotating skywards under load and dumping the rear wheel out. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dropout-Adapter ... 1037043371

    1996 19" Kona Hei Hei - eBay.de

Note that the decals are repros and the bottom bracket shell appears to be chamfered. And it's frame-only, despite some pics showing a complete bike.

New thumb friction shifter Sturmey Archer 9 speed?????

You probably need the correct spring-loaded 4-speed (is it a Dyno hub?) Sturmey shifter. ISTR that incorrect shifts only partly engage the gears, causing wear and failure. As usual, try Sheldon Brown for actual info.

Single speed wheels - 120mm rear spacing for my Humu

Pretty much any track or BMX hub (100 and 110mm also crop up, but 120mm seems most common). Numerous BMX brands that I can't name, then the bling options: Profile BMX, Paul's, Chris King, Phil Wood, White Industries, Campagnolo... There are lots on Ebay UK right now, including a convertible...

    £3000+ Raleigh Burner

£3K Ultra Burner? There are no words... The Ultra was second-best in the lineup. The components & forks were awesome for the price, but the frame was indeed pony.
