1994 Kona Fire Mountain restoration project.

It wouldn't be a battered old frame by that point though, it'd come back looking brand new.

This one has a single butted Tange frame and a triple butted Project 2 (says Spinner on the dropouts, so I don't know if they manufactured the P2 for Kona?). I weighed the bare frame and forks yesterday and they came up at 5.40lb/2.45 kg for the frame and 1.76lb/0.80 kg for the fork.

My total bill for the frame, forks, stem and sundries being painted, plus decals (supplied by me having bought them from Gil), being fitted, clear lacquer, extra braze ons, VAT and insured delivery, was £362.00. You can knock £130.82 off that though for the stem/sundries painting and braze ons...

She's back! After a hiccup with the courier's van breaking down , the frame arrived back with me this morning. In a happy coincidence, today is my birthday, so this has ended up a sort of present from me to me. :D I don't know how many people on here have used Argos, but for those that...

1988 Saracen 'Limited Edition' - minty mint!

Re: Lovely bike, I really liked Saracens in the 90s, back when they were quality bikes rather than the ten-tonne BSOs they seem to have become. I'm guessing you're pretty tall by the way, if that's way too small. Looks to be at least a 20"!

    Can anyone identify my Peugeot?

Will do. The bike is actually sat in my Dad's loft, where it got stashed when 15ish year old me stopped using it because all the gears were worn out and slipping.... I'm now 36! It'll happily stay there until I get round to starting the restoration project, but I'll be sure to check the frame...

Little 14" Kona project for my daughter

Could you not swivel the seatpost by 180° to position the saddle further forward?

Little 14" Kona project for my daughter

Love this. I keep half-looking for a tiny Kona for my wife, she stood over the 17" Lava Dome I recently bought but declared it too big!

Very nice. I'm enjoying restoring my Fire Mountain but I don't think the end result will be as good as yours!

    Can anyone identify my Peugeot?

Amazing what a spot of bored Googling can turn up, I appear to have solved my own mystery! Unless I am mistaken, the bike appears to be a 1985 Peugeot P10PG Loire tourer, finished in 'Misty Blue'. Does anyone on here have any experience of these bikes?

    Can anyone identify my Peugeot?

My restoration project on my Kona MTB has got me thinking about doing something similar with my old Peugeot road bike. I had it passed down to me by my Dad in the early 90s and I believe he'd had it quite some time by then. I pulled it out of the loft yesterday to take some pics, which was the...

1994 Kona Fire Mountain restoration project.

Re: I dropped the frame off at Argos yesterday. Mark (every bike shop bloke I meet seems to be called Mark!) was very thorough, running through everything I wanted done from physical alterations, through decal applications and positions to colours and delivery options. I should have the frame...

    Hooger Booger Comp LX

Looks like a nice find, not one I've heard of either though. I have to say, the seller's description of a 23" frame looks about right, the height of the seat tube/top tube junction above the top of the rear wheel looks far too high to be a 20" frame. I've had a couple of 23" bikes before and...

Breathing new life into a 1994 Marin Team Issue

The brakes are interesting, v-brakes but with non-v levers. You mention that they work really well though, I'm just wondering if the rollers on them alter the actuation to pull everything back into line?

I'm in Glasgow, Norman. It'd be great to meet up, but I don't see this build being complete this side of Christmas!

1994 Kona Fire Mountain restoration project.

Small update, Postman Pat delivered a present today. It's not strictly period correct, but it's literally the only post of even reasonable quality that I've been able to find in the correct size and silver (aside from a NOS Campagnolo Centaur in America for about $125!). It's NOS and, at £12...
