1994 Kona Fire Mountain restoration project.

Collected another piece of the jigsaw today, 732 XT hubs built into NOS Araya RM-400 Pro XC rims with DT double butted spokes. Far from the most exotic build, I know, but I'm very happy with them.

To boot or not to boot poll

Yes. I'm not normally a fan, mainly for the reason given ^^up there^^ by LGF, but that particular fork seems to look a little anaemic without them. I'd run them but be very conscientious in regularly cleaning underneath them.

At last, one in the right size!! (Zaskar content, pic heavy)

I have a similar issue with something, probably a pebble, rattling around inside one leg of my Project 2s. It was there when I bought them and it's still there following a refurb holiday at Argos. I guess I was kind of hoping that the stove enamel would disintegrate it (silly now I think about...

Started a build with a fork. Ended up with a 1987 Fat Chance

Re: Starting a build with a fork :) Stunning. I'm always staggered that NOS stuff like is still out there, I just can't get my head round someone buying these products all those years ago, doubtless at a fairly high price, and then just leaving it sat unused in boxes. If it was done as an...

    WANTED: 14" steel Kona frame

    Like this? 1993

Shimano STX SE FC-MC31 chain rings

I do recall STX having a peculiar chainring fitment (I think STX-RC had the 'normal' BCD of LX and XT, but I could be wrong?). I have a vague memory of Pace (I think) either making STX fitment rings or an adaptor that allowed the use of regular LX/XT pattern rings, but I imagine you'd do well...

    WANTED: 14" steel Kona frame

Like this one? (Only smaller, naturally!)

    Lotus Sport MTB

You're probably spot on there, vast majorities buy things on initial aesthetic value, after all. I think the Q21s were broadly similar internally to the first Judy XCs anyway, just a little more flexible due to the slimmer legs.

    WANTED: 14" steel Kona frame

I'm not in any great rush. Out of interest, what is it you have?

    WANTED: 14" steel Kona frame

Re: Re: Sadly, it's also sold. :( It would probably have been a struggle getting it from Essex, too. By virtue of it's regional nature, Gumtree sellers invariably bank on local pickups and seldom entertain shipping requests. Thanks for the tip off though, it's appreciated.

    Lotus Sport MTB

Curious that they used a Quadra 21 fork on the XTR build, rather than a Mag 21 or a Judy.

    Raleigh royal almost NOS

Beautiful. My Dad has a Randonneur of about the same age (also 531, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same frame and fork) with an original 6spd Shimano Deore group, which Mombat place at 1988. A few years ago he asked me to sort him a flat bar as his back is no longer up to using drops, so I...

    WANTED: 14" steel Kona frame

Definitely 14", I briefly had a 17" Lava Dome and even that was too big for her. For clarity, I'm after the size where the top tube and seat stays are at almost the same angle.

    WANTED: 14" steel Kona frame

Thanks, but no, I really want it to be a Kona.

    WANTED: 14" steel Kona frame

I'm in the market for a 14" Kona frame as a project to build up for my wife. Preferably with Project 2 forks but not a deal breaker. Not too fussed which model and cosmetic condition not overly important as it would likely end up being painted or powdercoated anyway, just no dents, cracks or...

    WANTED: Shimano barrel adjusters

Cheers. I've currently got the existing ones in a Tupperware full of Coke to see if it will shift the rust!

    WANTED: Shimano barrel adjusters

Thanks, but I'm just after 'boggo' Shimano ones or some that look as close to them as possible.

    92' Specialzed M2 Team....Ned Replica.....with story :)

Re: 92' Specialzed M2 Team....Ned Replica.....Wowwith story :) Wow, just wow! Just the bike in itself would have been bloody special, but meeting Ned and having him sign it? I would say it's the stuff dreams are made of, but surely nobody even has dreams that optimistic! If it were mine, I'd...

    WANTED: Shimano barrel adjusters

I'm after a pair of barrel adjusters in decent nick to suit my XT thumbies (Shimano SL-M732). Anyone got any rattling around in their spares bin?
