Yeah, I'll decide once the frame is here. I found a few The Edge builds online with AMP forks, but they were all the steel version of the frame.

I was told they tend to crack at the pins near the spokes. But mine seem fine in that regard. I was also told that if they survived this long, it' a good set :) So I'm not going to refrain from riding these once or twice a year like I do with the other vintage bikes I have.

I feel the purple bling is lost on this bike. The frame demands so much attention that the purple bits vanish. But that's me. The paint is awesome, but I would go with black parts all around.

Or, one wheel failed due to a crash? A buddy of mine had these wheels BITD, his bike fell off his bike rack while driving his car and both wheels shattered on impact with the road. There is not a wealth of information on these wheels in general.

Different years on the same bike would be a bit odd I think. But not unthinkable.

Blue to purple candy over polish would be my choice. Or Red to purple to blue :)

Yes I know they can be unsafe. These seem in good condition, I couldn't find any cracks. They will be ridden once or twice a year.

Looks like some water got under the clearcoat. this will happen to all bikes that just have a clearcoat (and why it's a bad idea to clearcoat a Cromo frame). I think the alu beneath is just fine, it's just an aesthetic issue. To fix, you'd have to sand the whole frame to remove the clearcoat...

The frame cleaned up nicely!

The owner of the LBS I frequented had one of these BITD. It was stiff as heck, too stiff. Not sure if that was the reason he parted with it, or the frame broke. I always wondered what the fuss was about, couldn't afford one anyways, so I stuck to my Zaskar.

I need to get a Zaskar again...
