Why did V brakes move to threaded blocks ? whats the advantage ? I prefer post style

Ahhh ok I didnt realise that, I can only see disadvantages with threaded blocks, I have always used posts, and they work the same but are easier to adjust IMO

Why did V brakes move to threaded blocks ? whats the advantage ? I prefer post style

For me, post style unthreaded blocks are far better, they give you another way to adjust the blocks instead of messing with fiddly washers, whats more a set of post style V brakes can be found for about £7.00, what was the reason for moving to threaded blocks?

Anyone ever been satisfied with Cantilever brakes ?

My solution with drop bars is V brakes and these levers, a combo that works way better than I have ever managed to get any cantis to work

    Today's Ride

Just washed off the transmission as the sand is a chain and freewheel killer which is why I stick with 3x8 as I can replace both for under £25, using 700x38C square profile tyres today which worked fine, any narrower is no good

Anyone ever been satisfied with Cantilever brakes ?

Bought a couple of older bikes recently both with Canti brakes, one was Shimano Deore Canti brakes, but no matter what I did I couldnt get either to work satisfactoraly. A couple of additions for my new (to me) Super galaxy

I started with the Cyclists Touring Club in Birmingham and the Dawes Super Galaxy was their recommended Touring bike for years, now I have one, I have ordered a CTC frame transfer and a Carradice Cotton duck saddle bag to complete the look for old times sake......ahhhhh memories :-)

Bought this Super galaxy today, needs some TLC but pretty good

Standard V brakes, they work great with the top mounted cyclo X levers, OK with the drop levers but will work better with the ones that Tektro make for V brakes that work really well, they are £25 and are on order, I have them on my other bike, I will then use bar end changers, the stem is...
