Now it's finished and the Airlines is working like it should! Still needs though some small fine tuning, but the biggest issues are solved. Feels pretty good to get it up and running after it took almost 2.5 years total from starting with the beaten frame to this point 🥳

The one you’re selling is though not a STS DH, but a normal STS model with less travel, which can be recognized from the seatpost entering outside the seat tube whereas in the STS DH it goes inside it. But looks to be in nice condition!

Little update. I managed to craft the wire by myself but it wasn’t as simple as I thought. It had to be 0.8-0.9mm in diameter and very flexible because it kind of curls around a small barrel. I found a roll of suitable stainless steel cable from ebay, soldered the ends for it from silver alloy...

Wheels are now built with some old skinwall Tioga mud dawgs on them. Still trying to find the best solution for the small cable in the airlines rear derailleur, have tried a few alternatives but they haven’t worked well enough yet. But the stance and overall look of the bike seems very nice!

Yes, it is explained in the build thread :) The proto team bikes they used in -96 were pretty similar to STS DH, but badged as LTS because STS was not branded yet. This has been a complex conversation subject with a lot of guys during the Autumn 😅
