Might as well be a virgin looking for advice

I have a Muddyfox cheapo jacket from sports direct, not breathable at all so ok if it's cold but raining, if it's warm you're getting soaked from the inside out. An ordinary old worn out coat is better then, but I no longer have one. Old Nike knee-length shorts I've had over 10 years, 2...

    Klosch - an accidental project…

This project has stalled temporarily while I search for a suitable bottom bracket. It came with a 113mm Shimano with Italian cups, but that's far too short for the XT crank I intend to use. I bought another cheap bb to assess the situation and figured I need somewhere around 128mm. Could anyone...

What is the maximum tooth sprocket you could fit on the back using a Deore DX rear derailleur?

What he's asking is why you only measured the top and bottom of the wheels and not the front and back, to ensure that the hanger is in correct alignment and not pointing in or out.

What is the maximum tooth sprocket you could fit on the back using a Deore DX rear derailleur?

This takes less than 5 minutes, admire my Karakoram if you wish. Remove rear wheel, skewer and mech. Rip piece of card off cereal box. I've used Shreddies. Trace r/h dropout onto card. Attach to l/h dropout. Screw axle into mech hanger from behind. Putting the wheel the wrong way gives you...

What is the maximum tooth sprocket you could fit on the back using a Deore DX rear derailleur?

I’m starting to think this is a wind up now. After all the advice you have been given, you are still bending your mech hanger 3mm at a time with a pair of pliers. If it snaps off I would say you asked for it.

What is the maximum tooth sprocket you could fit on the back using a Deore DX rear derailleur?

Well that was an hour I’ll never get back, hoping there was a happy ending as to the fitment of massive cogs. Here are my examples; I recently bought a 26” wheel Cotic Bfe and rode it yesterday for the first time. 1x11 all XT M8000 with a whopping 40t on the back. Can’t remember the front but...

Boost Vs non boost front hub spoke length?

A bit of guess work combined with some quick Pythagoras gives an increase in about 1.5mm spoke length or 3 full turns outwards on each nipple. I’m happy to be corrected of course.

    Aluminum frame bubbling paint

If you’re going to rub it down (in fact, I think you owe it to the world now - in the interests of science and safety or whatever) you should not use your usual steel wire brush, use a brass or even better a poly wheel in your drill like the example below. That way, if you do repaint it and put...

    Klosch - an accidental project…

Cleaned and painted, need to sort some bar plugs out now. Removed the brake cable bracket and fitted a plain spacer. The original Shimano top nut is missing its seal and to get to the O-ring box in the cupboard I had to move the bag of spare ball joint covers out of the way and that got me...
