Bianchi XLEV2 Road Bike Marco Pantani Era Vintage Campagnolo Record Giro

Seller is tripping. £3450? £500 on a very good day (and probably half that for the Willier listed). Seems to be obsessed with the 'Marco Pantani era', this strange portal in time and space that makes everyting x7 its nominal value. Weird as some of their other listings are quite reasonable.

Say you have sold a bike on ebay. Get a bike box from halfords Gnash about in the shed for ten minutes 'packing'. Make a big show with the empty bike box of 'I'm off to the PO, bloody couriers want £30' etc. Take empty box to tip (or dump in back of shops bins if unscrupulous). Instant space for +1

    French thread pedal adaptor?

Very hard to cock it up in practice. As long as you do half a turn, back out a quarter turn half turn again - and keep the cutting oil in there - jobs a good un. You can go in from the inside if you're worried about scarring the edges of the hole.

    French thread pedal adaptor?

I have a fully French bike, all French components....and a re-tapped 9/16 Rosebif pedal thread. They have no clue, them Frenchies. I ride past a cafe with the legend 'croissants' etched into la fenetre and they sit there in their stripey breton tops reading Germinal, clueless. I'm getting away...

Modern(er) brake blocks on vintage bike?

100% this. I find it mad that some people buy NOS 70s brake blocks over new stuff. Authentic yes but about as effective as a chocolate tea pot now. Koolstop Salmon all the way - soft compound grips and doesn't tear rims to bits.

    Withdrawn delete

From the 531 sticker I'd say this is post 1982, not 70s. Looks like a rebranded British Eagle / Coventry Eagle Touristique. Spec wise its almost identical, lugs and fork crown are also the same.

    Cheap donor dx

Seller went weird an hour before I was due to pick this up - told me the frame was broken and it was going to the tip. Offered to take it there for her and still give her a fiver. She declined. And the advert is still up!

    cliff peters decals.

Sounds like Argos have it covered. If not, all is not lost. As long as you can get an accurate photo and size info of the decals, any graphic designer worth their salt can knock out a vector file in their lunchtime. Files with formats .SVG or .EPS can then be handed over to someone like HLloyd...

    French thread pedal adaptor?

Yeah, I have seen some heroes just mash the 9/16 in there and cut a new thread by brute force. The same guys that pop a headset cup on a head tube and slam it into a brick wall. I'm not sure there would be enough meat to get an adapter in there to bridge the two threads. It would have to be very...

    French thread pedal adaptor?

I know you say you dont want to tap them out but its the quickest and easiest way to increase the pool of pedals you can use. I was scared or lunching a class piece of Stronglight chainset when I did mine but it was very easy in the end. Every other way is faffier and more limiting.

    Surface rust removal..Orbit America

I've used the following formula with success in rust treatment and it works. Cheap enough to make in bulk but yes, the shape of the frame means creativity needed if you don't want to make gallons. Formula is: 1lt water 100g citric acid 40g sodium carbonate (or 63g of bicarbonate of soda) a...
