My old friend John has this bike which he bought and had resprayed and decalled up as a Gillott. It’s been languishing in his garage and got a bit tatty.
He was so pleased with the other 3 bikes I did for him that he wants this one done. And while I am at it return it to a Ken Bird.
More to follow.
Before and after shots of this Kessels Main d’or.
A light resto (clean and polish) and changing derailleurs to Simplex and Chainset to Stronglight. The wheels were damaged so needed replacing, to me it just looks right.
And it rides right too...
Doesn’t look too tight under forks, I have gone for some lightweight plastic ones.
He has only got a heavy hybrid bike at the moment, once I’ve converted him I will convince him he needs a proper old tourer.
I have some mudguards and a lightweight rear rack on order, see what it looks like as a light tourer. Tyres look a bit iffy so will change them to something a wee bit bigger and more touristy.
