Built for a friend late last year for a friend. Late 80’s Gillott, starting with frame and forks he had hanging on his wall and building up with sympathetic parts. Link to build below; https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/late-80%E2%80%99s-early-90%E2%80%99s-gillott.453831/

Only decals on it are; Micrometer Head Badge decal. 531 Frame decal. And remnants of a CTC Cyclists’ Touring Club decal. There is a band of the original colour and the top of the seat tube that I think was were the Sturmey Archer pulley wheel was.

I’ve just bought another frame and forks that was listed as a 1950’s one, I liked the look of it. I think it is earlier than 1950’s any ideas?

    Late 80’s Early 90’s Gillott

Struck a bit of a problem with gears I have 8-speed cassete, 8-speed indexed shifters but the chain goes up 2 sprockets with every index! After only 4 clicks the chain has shifted up all sprockets. If I disconnect the cable the shifter still has 3 more clicks. Scratching my head.

    Late 80’s Early 90’s Gillott

Sourcing the parts, decided to go for Campag 8-speed with down tube shifters. John still wants it to look old and isn’t ready for Brifters.

    Late 80’s Early 90’s Gillott

Another frame that my friend John has had hanging on his wall. He bought the frame thinking it was a frame from the 50’s and it had been resprayed.
