Cutting threaded steerer... good idea ?

Re: Re: Yes that's what i tried to say :) It's just that the total lenght between headtube and top of lockring is less than 40mm and i cut the steerer accordingly. I guess this steerer will only be usable with a low stack headset from now on, but i can't figure out how i could have done it...

Cutting threaded steerer... good idea ?

Re: Re: So i've done it and it works but i couldn't respect the 40mm rule... I used a 105 headset and the locknut comes with a plastic seal preventing it to be tightened beyond the seal. I should have popped it out maybe... but now it's done i have have no extra threads beyond the lockring...

Cutting threaded steerer... good idea ?

Hi, I'm considering using a threaded fork designed for a long head tube on a shorter head tube frame. The threaded portion is long enough for me to cut the streerer and still have enough threads to adjust the headset. Any opinion against cutting the thing ? Safety hazard or something else i...

    Chorus headset Top Cap

Hello, I'm looking for a compression / top cap for a Campy Chorus 1" threadless headset. Mine was previously used with a 1/8 stem with shim and thus the original cap was replaced by a random 1/8 cap. Thanks !

    XTR Hub FH-M900 Dissasembly

Thank you all for your inputs. I didn't plan to dismantle it - was just trying to find alternative ways to unlock that cassette ring  But yeah i'm up for a freehub change. I still have he missing bits (pawls and all), so i didn't hear it explode :D i got it like this and the hole...

Re: Re: Did a lot of that already  though i'm not totally hopeless yet, just need a new hub as you suggest. Here are pics of the cassette, it's steel and could be high end - let me know if you can ID it ! Thanks again for the advices !

    XTR Hub FH-M900 Dissasembly

Thanks FC. Yes i was asking about the material of the freehub body's ribbed part, where the cassette sits. The cassette lockring is so hard to unscrew i was wondering about corrosion between lockring and hub thread. I tried everything i could (penetrating oil, cheater bar etc) but my chainwhip...

    XTR Hub FH-M900 Dissasembly

On another note : is the freewheel body alloy ? I'm having the hardest of times to remove the lockring (steel) and i'm wondering wether i could be facing some galvanic corrosion seizure...

    XTR Hub FH-M900 Dissasembly

Hello, I tried to service this M900 rear hub but the whole thing seems wrecked. The ribbed part of the freehub body fell apart and i'm left with the inner part (see pic). How do i remove it ? Thanks

Frame ID / Info Please :)

I think there were two different Diamant brands. I don't know about the German one but the Belgian sure did build some nice frames in the 80's - 90's, quite overlooked outside of Belgium. Thanks for the infos !

Frame ID / Info Please :)

I bought it as a donor bike and a bit too big for me. To be honest i didn't like the paintjob that much despite it's apparent quality. Besides it shows some scratches here and there so i may be tempted to strip the paint off. But then i'll be looking for the tubing it's made of, just to stick...
