    That's good to know, thanks!

    1991/1992 GT Zaskar (completed)

I’m still very undecisive about the fork I’ll use on this build… I have a Syncros Powerlite that could have been perfect, but the steerer is a bit too short… and of course, the Rockshox Magnesium that came with the bike has the same problem (weirdly). The only fork I currently have on hand...

    1991/1992 GT Zaskar (completed)

Some updates on this build. The dissasembly went smoothly! I expected a lot of seized parts, but everything came off easily. The first step of this project was to clean up the frame and inspect it. Overall, it is in good condition, with no cracks, significant dents, or major damage. There are...

    1991/1992 GT Zaskar (completed)

Good point! At first I though it was original for sure. However, the steerer is way too short for the headtube so it must have been installed afterwards... or the steerer was cut for some reason?

    1991/1992 GT Zaskar (completed)

Looks like it matches the serial number format of a real Zaskar (built in June '91)

Good point, one less item to look for!

    1991/1992 GT Zaskar (completed)

A few weeks ago, I used all of my luck for the year by finding this 1991/1992 GT Zaskar for cheap locally The only thing is, this cheap price came with a big asterisk... Not only is this Zaskar very tired looking, but basically every single part on it is not original. Even the fork has been...

BoTM Bike of The Month May 2024 "Canadian Special" - now taking entries

@Guigui58 1986 Rocky Mountain Blizzard I have submitted it a few months ago in a regular month BOTM. This time, the saddle is positionned correctly, it started a whole discussion last time! I should have tried to ride it before taking the final pictures 😂 Brief project summary here ...

Thank you all! I'm glad you like it, I had a lot of fun building this Rocky.

    1986 Rocky Mountain Blizzard

I decided to create this thread to document the restoration process of my 1986 Rocky Mountain Blizzard. It won't be a real-time thread; I restored it about 3 years ago and have made some small modifications to it from time to time up until very recently. It all started with this ad, consisting...

BoTM Bike of The Month April 2024 - now taking entries

Another colorful entry! @Guigui58 1997 Kona Ku I found it last year and added it to the Ku registry. Since then, I've been making some small changes here and there. It's a bit battered, but still very fun to ride!

BoTM Bike of The Month timetable and suggestions

We had "steel is real" month recently, perhaps we could do the same with aluminum? Singlespeed bikes? Or maybe obscure brand / model month!

    Kona's page

1999 Kona Explosif I picked up a week or 2 ago. It didn't need a lot of work, only a rear hub service since it was hard to turn. Next thing to do is to find more adequate pedals!

BoTM Bike of The Month December 2023 - now taking entries

@Guigui58 1986 Rocky Mountain Blizzard The oldest mountain bike in my fleet! Once again, no build thread since I'm fairly new here... It would have been an interesting one since it needed a lot of work over many months!

    1991 GT Karakoram

2.1" fits well, I'm sure almost any 2.2" would fit too. Wider than that might be tight around the u-brake and the chainstays.

    1991 GT Karakoram

I did not forget to send updates; this project took a sad turn and I’m a bit bummed out… After I did the small repair to the frame, I built the bike up as a city commuter. It went well, I didn’t notice anything else wrong with the bike (or so I thought) and the rebuild was uneventful. I tried...

    1991 GT Karakoram

The first thing I did after taking the bike apart and have the inside of the frame dry off was to tackle the seatpost clamp crack. It is hard to see in the picture, but it is there... First thing I did was to drill a bigger hole to remove the crack. I finished by sanding with a Dreimel...
