The simple pleasures of a cheapo bike

Totally agree with this. I renovate probably 10-15 bikes per year, but the most fun ones are not the full Dura Ace groupset on a Pinarello, but the interesting bargains, with an assortment of parts, where some work is needed to make it all run nicely. If there is something quirky, all the...

    Joe Waugh with Mudguard eyelets?

I have been offered a frameset, which is claimed to be a Joe Waugh. It is the right weight for a 531c, has nice lugs and dropouts, but it has mudguard eyelets. Now, I have never doubted that any framebuilder would make a frame with them, if asked by a customer, it's just that scouring the...

Colnalgo 54cm steel framed road bike

Re: Re: I picked up a Colnago with SL/Cromor frame and Veloce for £280 last year. Paint wasn’t as pretty as this, but they can be found. Got a Pinarello Olé with RX100 for £60 as well

Colnalgo 54cm steel framed road bike

Re: Re: Wasn't looking that closely, but you are right. I have a couple of lower-end Colnagos in the workshop at the moment, I will have a look at them later, but I suspect what you might be implying is correct.

Hoods for Shimano BL-6208 non-aero brake levers

I have some BL-6208 non-aero brake levers and would like some new hoods for them. Currently, they have some Dia Compe ones that don't fit so well (they aren't cut far enough back underneath, impeding lever movement. Does anyone know where I can get some better fitting hoods (preferable in...

    Ultimate Wet Weather Bike?

My all-weather commuter for the past two years, has been a 2016 Trek 1.1 (the bottom of the range road bike). Bought from a student who was leaving Copenhagen to be a ski instructor in the Alps, I got it for around £140, in great condition. I fitted a rack, the longest SKS Bluemels guards one...

Where can I get Pinarello decals for less than £25-30?

Where can I get Pinarello decals for less than £25-30?

Everywhere I look for Pinarello decals, seems to have a 'Pinarello' price to match! Other brands are priced at £12-18, but Pinarello seems to be at least £25 plus post. I have a tatty Olé that I would like to renovate, but the whole bike was only £45.

    Which Cannondale is this?

Haha! I see you've noticed my big red bike lock key! Don't worry, I have the original receipt from the woman I bought it off, and she spent 25 minutes looking for the key for the frame lock, despite my saying it wasn't a problem! So, that just leaves 'the beast'.

    Which Cannondale is this?

Thanks - that's exactly what it is. What I don't understand is why it looks like it came from the factory like that? The forks are the same colour as the frame, which I doubt could be done outside Cannondale's paint shop, and it hasn't had a respray? Did Cannondale sell them like this, in any...

    Which Cannondale is this?

Re: Okay, so it is from June 1997, but I still can't find any bikes with Headshok frame and a factory fitted rigid fork? The colour is a very dark petrol green/blue.

    Which Cannondale is this?

This might not qualify for this forum, the limit being 1997 - I think this might be from 1998, but forgive me! I picked this bike up yesterday - it has no model number on it, and very little in the way of any writing. The spec fairly closely matches the 1998 F700 (Mavic 221 rims, Deore LX rear...
