Love seeing something other than the usual Shimano and Campagnolo - beautiful bike!

    Identifying good vintage bikes

Lugs, dropouts and brake bridges are a good way to see how good a frame is. Something with Campagnolo dropouts, a slotted bottom bracket shell, or nice fork crown is likely to be mid- to high- end. Same for chrome- it was expensive to do, so usually the sign of something half-decent. And...

Stronglight XD2R crankset - JIS or ISO

Ive had a few (original and copies) through my workshop and they were all ISO. That’s not to say there aren’t JIS out there, but I’ve never seen one (out of 7 or 8).

    Joe Waugh’s tubing choices

Hi, I have seen many Joe Waugh frames in 653 and 531, and a couple of Columbus Max frame sets. But does anyone know if he used any other tubesets (Tange, True Temper, etc)? Thanks

    For Sale Splitting Peugeot magnum

I have the next Magnum model up from this one (the 800 with a DX group and Columbus Cromer frame) and it is a joy to ride. It sure what makes it so nice, but it really is. Would make a good commuter for someone.

Sold Olmo Olimpic w/ complete Dura Ace refurbished Gold large steel road bike

It looks like an Olimpic (not Olympic) - they had all of these nice features and Aelle tubes. See here - https://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/Olmo2/7.jpg I don’t see why it isn’t an Olimpic? But it could be something else - I am often wrong! What we can all agree on, is that it is not from...

Sold Olmo Olimpic w/ complete Dura Ace refurbished Gold large steel road bike

If it is an Olimpic, it is Aelle tubing - that’s what Olimpics were made of. Plenty of Italian builders used nice lugs, dropouts, chrome, pantographing, etc on mid- and low-end frames. I have an Olmo made of Columbus Gara, with chrome forks, slotted BB shell and super fancy brake bridge, and a...

Sold Olmo Olimpic w/ complete Dura Ace refurbished Gold large steel road bike

Beautiful frame. As it happens, the Olimpic sat in the middle of the range, not at the top (Columbus Aelle tubing), and cable runs over the BB, flat fork crown, those seat stay caps and that style of Columbus decal all point to early 80s, not 90s. But still a beautiful bike. Good luck with the...

    Ribble frame with Columbus dropouts

I had a Ribble built with 653 pipes, Cinelli lugs and Columbus dropouts. Bought direct from Ribble. I regret selling it so much.

    Cinelli Pinocchio stem issue

I also found this out the hard way. I actually picked up a second Pinocchio stem for 80kr (about £10) without the red dust cap. I asked the seller, but he didn't know - he bought it without, so I am guessing the original owner also mashed his top cap! You would think that they would mention it...

Help identifying brand new (possibly) 80's Raleigh found in shed

The Reynolds sticker is from 1989 or earlier, which matches with what you are saying (though some companies used up old stocks after this). The frame deserves better components - a Shimano RX100 group would go nicely.

    Peugeot Pro 753

Ah. One isn’t renovated and the other not, they are simply from diffent eras. The OPs Peugeot would have come with the newer, post-1989 sticker shown, if the groupset is original.

    Peugeot Pro 753

Sorry. I still don’t understand. I have seen stickers with ‘Renovated’ on them, but the sticker you’ve shown is exactly the same as an original sticker I have, which is the same as one I bought from Reynolds earlier this year.

    Peugeot Pro 753

How can you tell? All of the Reynolds stickers I have are exactly the same as these - both new stickers and originals. Am I missing a detail? Thanks

    Gold Fondriest Wind

Lovely frame, though I have never seen a Fondriest fork with a crown like that. They normally have his 'logo' pantographed on the shoulder.

Unless the tubeless rims are hookless.

    1991 Mike Mullett road bike

Wow - not often you see a 753 frame with mudguard eyelets. Very nice, and a very nice price!

Raw bicycles! ROAR!!! The 'naked' no paint bicycle thread

Has anyone got experience of 'bluing' a frame? I was thinking of trying it with one of the old steel framesets I have. Works well for guns, so I assume it would look great on a bike (I would probably clear coat, as I live in Scandinavia, which is not exactly a dry place!).

unknown! Some details about this bike?

You will need to post some photographs!
