What split-seat tube bike is this?

Got it! Guy says it is a Chazal, but I can't find ant mention of this company in the 80s. There was a 90s team of this name, but they rode MBKs. It's nicely made, fillet-brazed and apparently the massive stickers on the top tube are correct about it being made with Vitus tubing, but which kind...

What split-seat tube bike is this?

    Hmm. perhaps not!

What split-seat tube bike is this?

That's perhaps the closest I've seen to it. I am going out soon, to have a look at it, and perhaps buy, if the price is negotiable.

What split-seat tube bike is this?

Thanks, but the Mecacycles I've seen have the seat tube split. This one ends in a downward facing curve, with the lower two tubes appearing to go inside.

What split-seat tube bike is this?

This interesting steed is for sale, but I don't know who made it? It's not a Mecacycle, or a Paletti, or a Rigi - I think it is French, but can't say for sure. Does anyone recognise it? Thanks

    Bernardi cycles???

Not 'De Bernardi' but just 'Bernardi'. I've seen them about, here in Denmark, but I've just picked on up - a late 90s model made of Columbus Altec, with Bernardi stamped dropouts. A Google search returns almost nothing. The frame declares 'Hand built in Italy' but I don't know much else. Does...

Wanted Cap for Campagnolo aero water bottle

As the subject says, I am looking for a cap/lid for the aero water bottle that Campagnolo offered in the 80s. Thanks!

    Basso

As Foz said, measure the underside of the shell - 68mm is Birmingham, 70mm is Italian. That seems the easiest way to me.

    Giro frame?

Don't know the brand, but it's an interesting one. The decal logo type and nutted brakes say 70s/early 80s to me, but the under BB cabling and brazed-on shifter bosses say later. I am not sure that those decals are original to the bike. The simple brake bridge and drop-outs with mudguard eyes...

    Gear shifter bosses too big?

    Bolts go in fine.

    Gear shifter bosses too big?

Yes - they won't fit. The 'lozenge' shaped piece seems too long to go through the middle.

    Gear shifter bosses too big?

It's the cylindrical part. It's an oval, but seems to be too 'long' to fit inside the circular hole of shifter or mounting ring. On both sides. I am a bit baffled - I've owned over 80 vintage bikes and have never seen this.

    Gear shifter bosses too big?

Cleaning won’t do it - the difference is more than just some rust/dirt. I wonder if someone massacred them when they fitted the guides for the STIs that came on the bike.

    Gear shifter bosses too big?

I have this late 80s (?) Giant Speeder and I can’t fit any D/T shifter onto the bosses? I’ve tried Shimano and Suntour and none of them fit. Am I missing something - was there more than one size?

    Retro Triathlon Bikes ??????????????????????????????????????

Not so interested in aluminium. Someone is selling a vgc Assmussen Columbus Max road frame for around €300 at the moment. 57cm is too big for me, or I’d have it!

    Retro Triathlon Bikes ??????????????????????????????????????

As has already been mentioned, triathletes don't look after their bikes - in my experience of buying/renovating/selling 'vintage' bikes. I pick them up to strip them of parts - they often have gears, chainsets, and brakes in very good condition, but the frames and stems are often corroded, and...

    Project Wheeler 7100

Wheeler are German, I think. You see them around here (Denmark) a bit - I had a Wheeler Sirmione a few years ago - Tange 4 frame with some kind of Shimano Exage group. Very nice frame for what would have been low-mid range - pantographing and nice dropouts. Made a good hack. The Ultegra triple...

What year is this 80s(?) Giant Speeder?

Well spotted. I was sure the paint was original- now I know it is. I suspect 1988-9, but can’t be sure.

What year is this 80s(?) Giant Speeder?

From the old style logo, it's pre 1990; the components are all over the place, so they don't help; and there is not a single picture of this particular paintjob on the internet (that I can find). So, any experts know the year? Thanks!
