    That would be fantastic, thanks.

Sorted 80s ISO taper Triple Chainset - Stronglight, etc

Ah - yes, thanks! I am actually already watching that one, so fingers crossed.

Sorted 80s ISO taper Triple Chainset - Stronglight, etc

Hmmm...you may very well be right. Anyway, I think I'll still keep an eye out for a triple chainset because once I've bought a double, plus bolts and a chainring, it's probably about the same cost all in all, if not more.

    Not a Holdsworth?

Definitely looks like a ‘tribute’, not the real deal.

Sorted 80s ISO taper Triple Chainset - Stronglight, etc

Thanks - yes, I think 49D and 99 models can run triples with the right bolts, but those are pretty hard to come by, I think (I know there are still longer bolts for newer Stronglight models available but I have no idea if they work with older models, I suspect not).

Sorted 80s ISO taper Triple Chainset - Stronglight, etc

Thanks @hamster - I realise I should have been more specific - I’m going to keep the BB I have which is a 130mm Stronglight one (one of those asymmetrical ones). I think Campagnolo triples only use a 115 or similar? Certainly I would think they would sit too far out for a decent chainline...

Sorted 80s ISO taper Triple Chainset - Stronglight, etc

I'm looking for an ISO taper Triple Chainset - so probably something like Stronglight, TA, etc. Needs to work with the rather long 124mm Stronglight BB I have. If Stronglight, then standard extractor thread please (which I think means post 1982?). Not too fussed on condition as long as they are...

Vintage BSA Metro Bicycle for sale

Yes - just to clarify (though Google will also tell you more if you need to know), BSA did at one time make decent bikes, but as with many makes they got bought up by Raleigh and then the name was used to sell cheaper models, sold in catalogues. This is one of those, which has also been roughly...

    Mercian in Ilkeston £100

I picked this up today from the friendly somewhat elderly chap who was selling it. He'd actually bought it exactly as it is not so long ago, but he now had mobility issues and he never got around to building it up. He said he'd grown up not far from the Mercian works in Derby, so he'd always...

Withdrawn 80s-90s Flite (or similar) saddle

Sounds good if the price is right 😉

    Peugeot Aquitaine

Presuming it's original you can probably get a date code from the rear derailleur or another part – might be the easiest way, as catalogues can be hard to pin down sometimes.

Wanted Campagnolo long cage 8/9 speed rear derailleur

I'm now just wanting a Campagnolo long cage 8/9 speed rear derailleur. Preferably a 'Racing Triple' or similar, I'm still not looking to down to the Veloce level. I do realise these are not that easy to come by in good condition...

What Happened to The French: Fin d'une époque?

I was reading about Mavic ZAP the other day on Disraeli Gears – he has an interesting little piece about it here. As he says: 'I do believe that the MAVIC Zap system was not a runaway commercial success, but, again, my memory of this was that it had to do with it being an almost unimaginably...

    Ali Express for tyres ?

I just got a pair of tan wall Vittoria Rubino Pro from Banana Industries - I don't know how well they compare with the Challenge ones, but they are folding and 250g for the 25c size, which is pretty decent. I've put lots of miles on various pairs of the standard black versions and I've found...

    1993 Condor Professional 653

Luckily the hubs seem very good on the wheels I, so they should have plenty of life left in them. Also, I realise that by at least 1995 Chorus brakes were dual pivot, so I could still go down that route and be period-correct (ish). But, the main thing is that I think the monoplaner ones look...

    1993 Condor Professional 653

Yes, I’m very aware of the marked improvement you can get with dual pivot brakes. On my last build I swapped some pretty nice early 90s single pivot ones for some fairly basic modern Tektro dual ones, and the difference is very noticeable. In this case, though, I’m more concerned with keeping it...

    1993 Condor Professional 653

The stuck BB is now out, and the decal artwork is with H Lloyd so once I get those back I can get the frame painted. I've already assembled most of the parts I need. Originally I was going to restore the Veloce parts that came on the bike, but considering they aren't anything special, and due...

Removing a stuck Mavic 610 unthreaded bottom bracket...any ideas?

The BB is now removed. Once just the shell was left in there, I tried hitting it a few times with a mallet which did move it a little, however it soon started deforming the fairly thin metal so I had to stop that approach before it all folded into itself. I then tried pulling it with some vice...

    Mercian in Ilkeston £100

You may be waiting a while, I'm afraid! The current plan is to look at it lovingly for a few years. But it will happen some time.
