There was no such thing from my recollection of a 1" aheadset for mountain bike application, it was always 1 1/8" or 1 1/4"; road yes, 1" for sure for a while. So as the ad states, this looks to be steerer for threading. The seller doesn't mention anything about aheadset.

Now that is a bit of a NOS bargain

It's a 1992 not '91. That aside it's got a lot of original parts still there and look in good nick under the grime. The very hard to find GT titanium wheel skewers are also present I see. £400 is on the steep side as the frame does need some work but it's not the worst deal if you're looking for...

Yep, I raced a set of these in the Alps in the late 90s and blew the rims out on a long descent when they overheated. Very light and look great but like a lot of trick stuff just not up to long term abuse.
