I touched up the spots on my '90 by mixing some warhammer grey and white acrylics. rustoleum do textured grey paint; the seller gave me a can to experiment with. Not perfect but I don't do respray!

Sorted today, 4mm drill bit around axle, chisel and mallet plastic back to bearing shell outer, hit other side with metal hammer. This will remove the cartridge unit with axle and bearings, Then chisel and mallet away from threads to crack the remaining plastic race. 20 mins I reckon.

You also end up in a position that if it wasn't cracked you'd be scared to ride it because it's bound to. Can't really win with an al mega.

Same setup as my Funk. they're really easy to fit and have a lovely action. Found another pair of ultegra shifters in the shed for another set. My LBS is selling a pair in the end of a set of drops as well.

I hate these plastic cup SKF BBs. I even bought the tool this time and still it just stripped the plastic cup straight of. So Zinn goes with me to work on Monday for BB drilling. Where exactly do I need to drill to get this out?

I've gone steerer cable stop on mine as the syncros didnt have the noodle. Made my own Syncros seat post QR after filing and drilling

Just picked up a Pacific E stay Competition f+f in black with splatter paint. Al Mega seat tube sticker made me wonder.

Really interesting read as it's clearing up a lot of questions about mine, especially the steel flexstem and bridgeless stays which mine has, but with early xt, sg rings, wide cantis. That's an absolute steal I think for yours.
